Lions have Dan Campbell. We have Jason Witten for HC

Looks the same to me.
Well, he did coach that private school to a state championship. I could see that being good enough for the Joneses.

Garrett needed a better DC.
He did. But more creativity on offense could have made some of those offenses he had elite, which may have allowed them to overcome the defense. Garrett focused on building the offense, but then he handicapped it with his offensive philosophy.

Witten was a great player, but Campbell spent years coaching in the NFL before ending up as the Lions head coach.

That gave him years of experience under different NFL coaches and in different NFL systems to learn from that helped prepare him to be a head coach and get offered the job to be one.

If Witten wants to coach in the NFL, he should stop coaching a private high school team and go work for an NFL team as a tight-end coach or an assistant coach of some kind and start learning how to be a good coach in the NFL while working his way up the coaching ladder.

At this point though, Witten is no different than the hundreds of other formerly great NFL players that might become great coaches one day if they work toward that goal.

Until then, I would choose a proven head coach or one that is thriving in a coordinator position for another successful team over Witten, Romo, Deion or any former player that has yet to spend time coaching in the NFL.

Yeah. I'd like to see more than HS experience too. But maybe down the road.

You just can't make a former player a coach and expect success; they have to actually know what they are doing. Unless, you are Jerry, I guess.....

Yet.....He's got them playing well....tough football....without their best defensive player. Something to be said keeping a team hungry...focused...motivated....when you lose your best player.

MM had us playing well for three straight years. A little success here and there don’t mean squat. It’s just recency bias.

They still had one of the better offenses. Yes if they would have had a more innovative guy it could have been better but they were top 10, what they really lacked was a good DC. If that offense could have just gotten a little help could have made a world of difference.

Which Witten do we get? With rug or without rug?

Jason Witten doesn't wear a hairpiece because nothing can cover Jason Witten.
