Hmmm, the initials MC come to mind...another hint...he is currently on the Cowboys' roster.

you are obviously too young to remember all the blather about Bush before he was drafted. NO WAY is Claiborne in the same galaxy.

No. But I have concerns that the Lions will pick either Gordon or Gurley. They're really a strong running back away from seriously contending, assuming they resign Suh.

The guy has has 5 1200+ yard seasons from scrimmage ...what the heck do you guys want?

You guys are acting like he's a bum...1200 yard seasons are pretty solid...he's a weapon - no question

He has four 1200+ yards from scrimmage not five. That is okay, but it isn't special. He was hyped to be special and produce 2000+ yards from scrimmage seasons. He has just under 9000 yards from scrimmage over his 9 year career or an average of less than 1000 yards per season. That isn't solid. It is alright.

Trust me, I am not too young to remember. The point you presented was not about being overhyped, but overrated. Granted, Claiborne was not overhyped, but I think it's safe to say he was overrated.IMO

Leading up to the draft that year there were writers claiming Reggie Bush was "the next Barry Sanders". It was ridiculous . I don't find a link but Mel Kipper said he had the highest grade he had ever given (or something like that). Here is the first article that popped up in a quick Google search, it compares Bush to Sanders and Walter Payton:

The Texans won the "Bush Sweepstakes" by nudging out the San Francisco 49ers. By trading down, or drafting a quarterback, they're tearing up a winning lottery ticket.

Reggie Bush might be the next ...

Barry Sanders.

Maybe Walter Payton.

Or a lethal combination.

Bush has now-you-see-him-now-you-don't elusiveness and deceptive power. This is not Rocket Ismail dragging his Heisman into the NFL. I'm already starting to feel sorry for Tony Dungy, Jack Del Rio and Jeff Fisher in the AFC South.

Yes. He misses a lot of games...that's a huge question mark

However, given the right circumstances...and I think dallas provides a great opportunity for just about every back...I think a back w special attributes, like Bush, would have a killer year...I mean heck, look what Murray did...

I think this team needs a back who can be a home run hitter...Murray is not that guy

You are giving Bush way too much credit. Bush doesn't have special attributes, which is why his career has not lived up to the hype. He has four season when he averaged less than 4 yards per rush. Plus if people think Murray has a fumbling problem( 1 fumble every 92 touches) they will love Bush(1 fumble every 52 touches).

Bush doesn't have special attributes? Oh that's silly...

He's also played most of his years on teams w crap offensive lines...I think it's safe to say that we all know that a rb is only as good as his OL

We can start w speed...bush has elite speed

Not silly. The truth. If he had truly special attributes then they would have presented themselves by now. He has been an average back at best in his career. His best season he put up just over 1500 all-purpose yards(rushing, receiving, return yards). Darren Sproles and Maurice Jones-Drew have put up multiple seasons with greater yards including going over 2000 yards.

Last season Murray not hitting home runs was helpful. Moved the chains and kept the defense on the sideline.

Bush doesn't have elite speed? He has a special make you miss ability too...it's it easy to showcase those skills w poor OLs...and he's consistently played behind poor OLs..

He's not an every down back...and that's a big problem...

Lolol.. I'm not going to agree to this

But let's hope we can improve the D and then it will be helpful to have a home run hitter

There is always an excuse for the guy. He isn't special. Special players don't face the prospect of playing on their 4th team in 10 seasons. Throw out this season for DeMarco Murray and he still averages more yards per season and more yards per game than Reggie Bush.

in Dallas, he'd have to take a cheap contract, settle for being a backup, and likely play special teams. At places like NYG, ARI, SD, TEN, etc, he can compete to be the starter and likely be offered more $
