There is always an excuse for the guy. He isn't special. Special players don't face the prospect of playing on their 4th team in 10 seasons. Throw out this season for DeMarco Murray and he still averages more yards per season and more yards per game than Reggie Bush.

Oh..bush is not special...absolutely not...I'm not saying he is...I said he has special attributes...

I believe he's a player that would shine given the right circumstances...heck, most backs would flourish here...what separates bush is his speed and make you miss skills...things Murray can't do...and neither can many other backs...

In an average situation...he's an average back...I just think he'd shine here...it's more of a testament to our oline...I just think he has the skills needed to compliment our line...not many backs out there w those skills...but again, he's not an every down back...which is a big problem for me

The knock on Reggie Bush even coming out of college is that he doesn't run well between the tackles. That and he gets nicked a lot.
Somebody will likely pick him up as a Darren Sproles-like running back. But I think his days of toting the rock on an extended basis are over.

I would much rather keep Murray, but i remember reading/hearing the same thing about Murray coming out of college.

I would much rather keep Murray, but doesn't this sound like somebody else we knew coming out of college...Murray?

They said Murray couldn't run between the tackles? Be that as it may, the saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" applies here, IMO. Murray, even if he was criticized for not being able to run between the tackles, has gotten over that. Reggie is still dogged by it. And at age 30, he aint going to start doing it now. It wouldn't be good for his aging health.

Yes, I agree. My statement was not one of disagreement, but merely an observation,. The experts could not have been more wrong about Murray...at least as far as his running style.

I would take him as a 3rd down back over Dunbar if he would take the same money 1.5-2.5m.

You want an example of someone so totally over rated coming into the NFL - this is the best example I can think of over the last 10 years.

Yup. I remember going into the draft he was being touted as the best RB that would come along in a decade.

I think you guys are being a little naive

Bush behind this line...with Linehan....

I'm not saying it's amazing...but oh boy

Maybe.

For a half.

If we're lucky.

Then he'd be banged up and be in and out of the line up for the rest of the year.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Leading up to the draft that year there were writers claiming Reggie Bush was "the next Barry Sanders". It was ridiculous . I don't find a link but Mel Kipper said he had the highest grade he had ever given (or something like that). Here is the first article that popped up in a quick Google search, it compares Bush to Sanders and Walter Payton:

The Texans won the "Bush Sweepstakes" by nudging out the San Francisco 49ers. By trading down, or drafting a quarterback, they're tearing up a winning lottery ticket.

Reggie Bush might be the next ...

Barry Sanders.

Maybe Walter Payton.

Or a lethal combination.

Bush has now-you-see-him-now-you-don't elusiveness and deceptive power. This is not Rocket Ismail dragging his Heisman into the NFL. I'm already starting to feel sorry for Tony Dungy, Jack Del Rio and Jeff Fisher in the AFC South.

And that's why no one should listen to Kiper. He puts all his waking hours into evaluating talent, and still sucks at it.

When he's right, he's just relied on someone else's opinion.
