Am I missing something? I dont remember any of these lineman blocking for Julius.

Why is everyone being so obtuse?

Barber and Julius were on the same team. They had one of thew3 top lines in 2007. Remember Dallas had 13 pro bowlers on that team.

The point that keep[s being made is that all backs are created equal.

Then why was Barber successful and Jones not? Same line, but different running backs.

So to people have said in this thread any of the backs can run behind this line. So let's just allow Murray to walk because he'll want to get paid.

Did you actually watch the Titans game this week? Murray is a work horse and once he ge5ts past the first level, he takes it to the defense, There are some nice complimentary running backs on this team, but Murray is a clear cut above.

So tell me why Barber could run behind the 2007 line, which was one of the better lines in football, yet Jones could not.

Because jones had no vision, and couldn't break a tackle. But the 2007 line isn't this line.

Troy Hambrick he could be all-pro.

seriously, I like to activate Williams and let him lay the wood to the skins, gaints, and egals in the 4th quarter.

Trip over a blade of grass Hambrick? No, he would see a hole and run up the back of a guard.

Lol, the heart of a champion is one earned...and it definitely isn't a plug in affair.

Emmitt was considered a slow/good running back. He had a few trophies in his case. When it came time for the Cowboys to resign him and pay him also...they bucked. Emmitt held out four games, and before the team resigned and paid him, the Cowboys almost blew their second chance at a Lombardi. Money is necessary for a great team as well as talent, in today's NFL.

At season's end, they just cleared path into and through the playoffs...he didn't hold out but two games, is your point?

Point being that the missing and quality running back made a huge difference. And it took paying the piper for the play.

Also, as to not sticking with your players, it wasn't until December that Troy Aikman's contract was renewed that same year. And if Norv Turner wasn't brought in, and a last type resort for an Offensive Coordinator, Troy might not have developed or been replaced.

Then, in the trading up in round 1, the Cowboys had been offered a trade with a receiver attached, (that being Michael Irvin.)

No, a quality team takes both pay and great players...that's all I was saying.

Agreed 2 games and Emmitt was much more than a slow good back. Emmitt was the best rb in all of football for a good amt of the 90's.

Murray could lead the league in rushing this year, and it won't matter at contract time. The NFL has watched him throughout his first contract....nice back, some injuries, nothing special....Dallas puts out a top OL, and he has a great year.

The NFL is not fooled by this. In today's NFL, Murray will not receive what most consider big money no matter how big a year he has. Dallas will have to pay him reasonable starting RB money, and they will do it rather than try to replace him in the draft---it's about running, meshing with the blockers, having a proven track record, and being trusted in pass production.

The only way Murray isn't resigned on a painless contract with a decent little signing bonus is if Dallas believes Randle or Williams are about to supplant him anyway.

Please prove this. Or have you forgotten Julius Jones and the cast of thousands after Emmitt?

Prove anyone can run behind this line.

People here are always so quick to assume things are solved.
Yeah, Jerry was the first fool. Any 500 coaches can coach this team to a SB. Soon as Jimmy's players left, we did go through 500 and counting. Fans years ago said, we can have any type of safety back there, it doesn't matter. Now we see that it does. Murray is taking a pounding and still going. Will other RBs be able to do that? You are spot on TwoDeep.

Great post. You're exactly right.

The problem is I have no faith in the front office being that bright. "Running back gain yards, running back good" is about all the insight they're capable of.

They gave Barber a bad contract. Now its a perennial problem? The hyperbole would be funny if it wasn't so frequent, intentional and disingenuous.

The Barber contract was 2008. Let it go.

If anything we should be commending the front office for an offseason of prudence.

Yea, I'll bet a bottle of Walker Blue here and now, that Murray tops 1600 combined yards by season's end!

The real indicator for a top notched offensive line, is a smile on Tony Romo's face and the opposing defensive line angry as hell.

I judge a man on what he places upon the table...not how he trims his moustache.

In the Army, it had to be off the lip line neatly, and clipped at the corner of the lips.

You may have a point about this libe versus that line. It is early, so what it is is still in the making. But all indicators are that this could be a great line.

My point is this.

Evidently you did not read this thread since I addressed that twice.

Sorry, I was just trying to inject some humor.

I do have to say most of Barber's positive production came as a closer, when teams were "softened up". Once he became the starter, his days were numbered.
