Threads like this remind why I hate the salary cap. Everyone is concerned about cap space and not the talent.

It is too bad that teams don't get a bit of a discount on the cap for resigning their own talent so that player retention is favored slightly over free agency. Even a 5 or 10 percent credit against the cap would make a substantial difference in players resigning with their current team.

Is that your avatar speaking, or you?;)
yeh, unfortunate reality of the business..... if there wasn't a cap, the boys would be 18 time defending champs by now, with a roster boasting everybody!:D

Be cool if the NFL permitted going over the cap like the NBA does to retain players. Maybe like 2-4 players they could do this with.

My avatar used to be to remind people that did not like JJ that is could always get worse. However since Al passed away I just have not changed it.

"Anyone can run behind our o-line"... But can they block and catch as well as Murray? I think Randle might be able to.

Randle is to running back what Dwayne Harris is to receiver. He's a decent option for the position, but he is a much better utility/special teams player. I don't see the Cowboys looking to him to be the bell cow runner next year, if Murray leaves.

Yes, that would be good.

Keeping the team's top players was the idea behind the Franchise tag, but there's nothing that helps with intermediate salaries.

If Murray signs for a reasonable price you can keep him. Otherwise go with Randle and Williams. Draft another RB in the 4th or later.

I agree. Don't tie up big money in a RB. They are interchangeable and disposable in this league. Get a bell cow in the 3rd or 4th.

If Murray stays healthy this entire season it will be the first time. Being this is a contract season I have a feeling he will stay healthy the entire season. I can't see paying the guy major money given his health history. If a guy only stays healthy to get paid then that doesn't bode too well for the future.
