Greetings Cowboy Fans ...nothing but respect to you all. I haven't spoken to any of you in a while and I thought I'd chime-in to give you an update on my outlook for this season; now that Michael Vick is the starting QB for the Philadelphia Eagles.
On my home sight and a neutral sight where I am a Moderator, I made it clear right from the beginning Of the off-season through to the beginning of the regular season, that I had a problem with trading McNabb without securing a number one quarterback. I felt quite frustrated and of course helpless to do anything but express my concern with my brother fan-base. To my surprise, many of my fanbase spoke extremely hig about Kolb and his potential to lead the Eagles to a sucessful year and post season. I actually clashed with everyone on that notion. While I do do think that Kolb is a very werthy backup QB with the potential to improve his experience in the NFL, I do not think, nor did I ever believe that Kolb was ready make the transition to number one QB at this time. I wish that Kolb gets healthy soon and is ready to do whatever He can for the Eagles if and when he is called into action.
That brings me to Michael Vick ...whom I feel was the only logical choice with McNabb now in Washington. My take on why Andy Reid took so long to make the decision to promote Vick into the number one spot is public opinion. I don;t feel that Andy wanted the media distraction of having the press exploit the notion of having a convicted person move to the top position of the Philadelphia Eagles QB roster. A sudden move like that under any other circumstances could have brought down a media hurircane and create some serious distraction within the team. I think (and I've been wrong before) that Andy Reid was waiting for Kolb to either excell or demonstrate that he was incapable Of holding down the top spot. Kolb got hurt, which is a risk for any QB. This incident forced Andy's hand, yet, he reluctantly held on to the notion that Kolb would remain his number one QB. ESPN, sports analyst, many more Eagle fans started to realize the powerhouse that is Vick, during his playtime in the Greenbay game, and most recent win. While many believe that the Vick transition came from the top, but I think that the series of things that occurred gave Andy an opportunity to make his move.
How do I feel about the season ...it's early and I don;t believe that any team can forecast their winning rate. But I feel a whole helleva lot better knowing that Vick is not only back to form, but he is even better than he was before. My only concern now is whether or not Andy Reid and the Eagles GM will do the right thing during the off-season (if Vick ocntinues to play at this level or better). I Hope they learned their lesson abOut tossing Out the baby with the bath water!
Question ...how do the Cowboy Zoners feel about the Cowboy;s chances this regular season?
I wish the Cowboys well this season.
