Any chance we can keep in perspective the fact that we're in this situation right now because of injuries to the scheduled starters? Like, even an outside shot? Or must we resort to blaming Jerry Jones so soon in the preseason? Whatever are we going to be ranting about when the regular season starts if we get all our Jerry-powder wet with tears so early?

Dat Nguyen talked about this yesterday on his show. He said he's not surprised that Livings is injured again, because when Leary returned to practice, he was doing very well, and Jerry and Stephan went over to Leary and expressed how happy they were with his return and play. Dat said that Livings saw this and decided his knee injury was getting worse, and wanted to protect this year's salary by landing on the IR. Dat said it happens all the time with veteran players.

He also said he talked to Hangartner, a former Aggie, and he told Dat he was blind sided by his release. He is healthy, and was running with the first team. He did say that he had an off year last year, but that his salary was $1.5 million and that the Cowboys should have been first in line to sign him. He plays both OG and C.

Considering that article was published before we spent another first round pick on a olineman, I'd say you're really, really reaching with your "facts."

Again, add 1 draft pick in the entire draft..Makes the articles point even more...

I can see this happening.

Um, no it doesn't. It arbitrarily selects data to try and illustrate a point. It also equates all draft rounds the same in its rankings, which is beyond absurd.

For example, I'll write an article analyzing how many teams have spent two first round draft in the last three years on the OLine. What...not many?? Wow, the Cowboys are spending more valuable resources on the OLine than the vast majority of teams!

Good stuff. The Livings bit makes perfect sense. I don't like it, but it makes sense. The good part is the Leary stuff, assuming it's true.

It'll be interesting to see if anything happens with Hangartner. This is one where I'd rather see the team move sooner and cover their bases. We're getting to a point, though, where how many OLs we expect to keep on the final roster comes into play. If we're expecting to go 10 deep with 4 OTs, Hangartner'd have to push Arkin, Killer, or Bernadeau off the roster. They might want to see Arkin play this week before deciding what they want to do with the competition at OG (beyond having enough decent bodies for camp evaluations, obviously).

Reaching? Everyone knows we have had oline problems for years. Not only at center but at the guard position, etc. Don't know why oline with this team is not a priority even though the writing has been on the wall for years. The big D in Dallas means DENIAL.

Two first round picks in two year equals priority, and to argue otherwise is denial.

I won't continue to argue or debate this with you because it seems your one of those guys who will defend every single little part of our team, and who's mind is made up .It amazes me that anyone can defend this OL in anyway. How it's been built, how long they've been horrible..How they've been piecing it together and ignoring it for almost TWO DECADES should be evidence enough that there is nothing close to being good about it. Every single person who talks about the Cowboys or the NFL for a profession or career says this is the weakest link on our team. Even though I don't agree with 75% of them on most things, you can't argue with 100% of them. Look, you and I want the same thing. For our Cowboys to get better, be more competitive, and go far in the NFL Playoffs. I feel we have everything we need to get that done with the exception of 3 starters and 3 backups on the offensive line.

100% true. You can argue effectiveness of picks and signings but not that the OL is being ignored.

Exactly. People are going overboard with the OLine. As it stands, our staring OLine consists of two first round draft picks, a couple mid-roun picks, and a priorty UFA. Guess what? That's is similar to most of the solid lines in the NFL!

Of course.

Look at the amount of money they handed Leary (and the little speech Jerry gave right after the signing). I don't think that comes off as "ignoring" the oline.
