I doubt they are laughing at me. I never said I didn't know where Kaohsiung was located. I just said that London is more well known. I bet those same Asians you mentioned know where London is located.

Maybe London is not as significant today as it used to be, but it is still very well know and has a long recorded and well known history. Especially in the U.S. and in the school system that Crower, myself and many people were raised in. It is not a question of he should know where London is located, but how can he not know because the history of England and London was always covered in school when I was growing up and I am pretty sure that has not changed. The history of Kaohsiung was not covered and something I have learned on my own.

I give up.

Yes, he SHOULD know where London, England is. But I don't fault him for not knowing.

I don't know his economic background, but there are alot of kids out there who have more important things to worry about.

I simply don't like the tone of the article insinuating something they don't know about.

Sorry, I don't care if England's native language is English. What does it have to do with Channing? You don't know his environment growing up. Perhaps he has more important things to deal with than worry about names of a foreign city.

You come rushing out to insult him yet have no clue about his circumstances. Why should he know where London is? Is it some place which is supposed to have meaning to him???

It's hardly ignorance. It's not important to him, and I have no trouble understanding his point.
Do you know his circumstances?

Did Channing attend a college?

This is a basic knowledge, perhaps you are used to ignorance, more than I am. I find it ridiculous, it's that simple.

Heck, I think he was just joking around anyway. In case you missed my edit, it is Kaohsiung with the H before the S.

I think if anything Eddie, you should be more upset that this was presented to make Crowder look foolish when he may have simply been joking, rather than upset that they didn't know how good of a geography teacher Crowder may have had in 4th grade.

Geez guy...

Ever heard of Big Ben?

No. Football player?

Ever heard of Buckingham Palace?

No. Is it someplace important? Is this some place which would be important to an Asian American?

What about the children's nursery rhyme "London Bridge is falling down?"

I have no clue. Am I ignorant?

Do you feel better? I'm ignorant cause I could care less about these things and don't waste my memory space on them? Now you can call me names.

Dolphins LB Channing Crowder, who appears likely to start in the middle Sunday against the Giants with Zach Thomas ailing, says he didn't know until Tuesday that people in London speak English.
"I couldn’t find London on a map if they didn’t have the names of the countries," he said. "I swear to God. I don’t know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I know London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. That’s the closest thing I know to London. He’s black, so I’m sure he’s not from London. I’m sure that’s a coincidental name." Source: Palm Beach Post

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

Sorry to everyone.

I got carried away.

Why is he dumb? Cause he didn't know where a foreign city was?

I bet you can't locate Kaoshiung on the map either.

Sorry not everyone is so anglo-centric.
Yeah, because heaven knows we've all heard people talk about Kaohsiung, Taiwan every bit as much as London, England. Every single one of us.

Way to let the point fly right over your head, and yes, some of us can find it on a map even if we are anglo-centric.

He is kidding. He got a 30 on the wonderlic and is known as a joker.

sure do! The boys from Kaohsiung were our primary allies in starting the war on terror! Which is saying a lot, because it was only 231 years ago that we had to fight against those Kaoshiung boys to win our independence. Remember that Oolong Tea Party we had in Boston all those years ago? That sure got them hot... they were fit to he tai'd. But, all is well that ends well. Glad they are on our side.
Oh, and I am pretty sure Ang Lee is a descendent of General Robert E. Lee.

So is Thierry Henry.
I thought Henry was French. ??

He played for the French team in the world cup anyway, and his name sure sounds French. "Henry" is pronounced the same as Texas pronounce "ornery."
