As many may know, the Horns signed Gatorade National Player Of The Year, Jake Smith earlier in the year. Smith was recruiting another player, #9 rated player in the country and #1 athlete in the 2019 Class Bru McCoy. McCoy ended up staying home and signing with USC over Texas because of Kingsbury. Now that Kingsbury has left for Az, McCoy has filed for transfer and has enrolled in classes at Texas. McCoy will likely be a horn and playing for Texas next season, along with Jake Smith. Texas has got two major commitments at the WR position for the upcoming class.

And then OU got the #1 WR recruit, #4 prospect in the country.

The #3 WR recruit, #11 prospect in the country.

Then the #11 WR recruit, #66 prospect in the country.

Then pulled the #3 TE recruit just for good measure.

On top of CeeDee returning. Jalen Hurts transferring. Got the #1 QB prospect for 2019. Under Lincoln Riley's crazy offense.

Pretty ridiculous offensive firepower for UT and OU. That game is going to be wild and they should both dominate the big 12 where defense is optional.

I do think the Horns arrow is pointing up

Anyway....I see that
  • Jake Smith is currently ranked 48th by Rivals 67th by Scout, and 78th by ESPN.
  • Bru McCoy is ranked 12th by Rivals, 10th by Scout, and 27th by ESPN
But the overall Texas 2019 class looks real strong.
Most rankings have them in in the 3-9 range, but because everyone has them fairly high, the overallcomposite rankings have them all tne way up to 3rd

Both rivals and 247 now have Texas ranked number 3. This coming off the last recruiting class which was also ranked number 3. Texas and OU will be quite a battle for the next few years and it will be healthy for the big 12.

Should lift up the Big 12 overall as well.
Maybe the Big 12 soon gets it's first national title since 2005.
With both power programs possibly getting back to consistent prominence, they're going to break through again eventually.

Ehlinger is going to win the Heisman with the stable of WR’s they have.

Don't forget Marcus Washington who was the MVP of the UA game.

Yep, and I saw that Johnny Wilson, 5 Star WR in the Class of 2020 just named Texas among his final 5 in the follow on Class. He is a big time talent as well.

Arrow is up for Texas

Not here, but people forget (like my wife's Florida State friends) that Texas was one of the 2-3 most winningest programs during the Mack Brown era between 1998-2013.
They were ranked in the final top 25 rankings 14 of those 16 seasons--which is insane. Played in 2 titles (and almost 4) and won one.
They were in the top 13 ten straight seasons and often much higher (top 5 in five of those years.

But this year was the first year since then that they've finished in the top 25...finishing at #9.

Expectations are high!

Athlons has then 2019 preseason #6 and many others have them in that range too.

Athlon Pre-season 2019
  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Georgia
  4. Oklahoma
  5. Ohio St
  6. Texas
  7. Florida
  8. Michigan
  9. LSU
  10. Texas AM
Preachin' to choir, but just sayin'

UT was smart and hired the best recruiter they could.
Charlie was a great guy and good recruiter but few Texas ties.
Herman recruited the crap outta Texas and it shows.

Lincoln will have OU humming along as a top 10 team yearly until he decides to try the NFL.

Texas ended their signing period with an acceptance by OT Javonne Shepherd. Shepherd, a 6'6" 327 lbs. 4 star Tackle was the 28th ranked OT and had originally gave a verbal to Texas back in July but was the only remaining commit not signed. Yesterday Shepherd signed his letter of intent, completing the Texas Longhorns 2019 recruiting class.

While not as highly ranked as others, this kid has tremendous size and exceptional agility, for his size. This kid could become a legit NFL tackle with the physical skills he has. He's just raw and needs to be developed. Kinda excited about this kid.

UT, OU and SEC claimed all the top spots. Oregon up there around 7/8.

It looks like David Beaty & Larry Fedora could be joining the staff in some type of analyst role. Good to see Texas finally acting/spending like a big boy program in this department.
