I don’t know if we trust Jethro and Co. on hitting on one but if we can get into the top 6-7, no problem in taking a shot. They missed big time on Mazi in the lower half of round 1. I’d move up in the second round for a QB if one drops some. No Sanders please! Gotta go RB in the 3rd. We need to take another QB somewhere in rounds 4-6. We have got to create some competition at that position if they’re not going to pick up one in FA.
You start throwing darts on day 3 for a QB, see if you hit, but this team has too many needs to draft a high QB.

Jethro and his shiny toys says no DT in the first
not to mention that would mean he had to admit to making a mistake with Mazi and you know how that goes
Even Jerry understands the difference between 1tech and 3tech. It’s borderline they’re going to be able to resign Osa. A 3tech like Walter Nolan with Fletcher Cox like potential (both pass and run) pushing the middle helps sale a ******** of number of 11 jerseys!

ALL our SB winning teams were monstrous against the RUN with superb DT play

The original Doomsday and Doomsday 2 each had a HOF DT

The 90's team had a squad of Pro Bowl talent playing there
Russel Maryland, Leon Lett, Tony Casillas, Chad Hennings and others so that we could platoon

SHOW me one player on this DT crew that would even be a rotational player on any of those teams

Super Bowl winning teams are good at most positions, almost by definition.

If you were trying to sell us on a different position, you could make the same argument for TEs being decisive, (Kelce/Higbee/Gronk), or CBs being decisive, (McDuffie/Ramsey/Dean). Or you could go full SportsCenter and just credit Mahomes, Stafford, and Brady.

In my opinion, very hard to find an impact DT, like it was finding that elite safety a decade ago.

Chiefs, Rams, Bucs

Chiefs-Chris Jones
Rams-Aaron Donald
Bucs-Vita Vea

Unicorn type of interior players who can not only stop the run, but rush the passer.

Not saying any of these prospects, will turn out like these 3, but it is time to draft a high DT!
Jimmy Johnson built his dynasty through the trenches. The OL was dominant. The favorite play was the lead draw and teams knew it was coming and still could not stop it. On the other side of the ball, Jimmy's defense was ranked #1 without a superstar. Jimmy stopped the run and after teams were in 2nd and long, the pressure came.

Sure finding an Aaron Donald is a lottery win
but there are impact DTs drafted every year
now if you are obsessed about pass rush from inside OK but frankly that is not the primary duty of a DT

This Cowboy group has been terrible hitting on quality DT's.

LOL....I understand what you are saying and I agree we need to put more priority on getting an elite DT but man, you need an entire team to win a Super Bowl. the players mentioned have won the last three years but how many years, QBs and/or other quality players have they waited for?

Honestly, I'm not sure we even tried. Until Mazi, we only spent resources on bottom feeders with the exception of a couple of guys over the past 20 years.

We have used several day 2 picks and they all haven't worked out: Collins, Hill, etc.

Agree, takes the entire team. As for defense, what bothers the QB the most? Pressure up the middle, in their face. Interior pressure forces the QB to move off his spot and right into the Edge rushers. They have a major impact!
