Looking back, was Bledsoe that much of an upgrade?

Do you consider Adams, Pettiti, Allen (2005 Larry ;) ) Rivera and Johnson as 5 hall of famers?

If not - then yes it's possible.

I remember Bledsoe taking lots of sacks this year and Romo not being sacked as much behind the same line.

Are we running in circles? Check the thread.

:shootme: Adios....

The funny thing is that no one was talking bout Bledsoe not being an upgrade last year - and that is a more accurate guage because Vinny and Quincy were more fresh on our minds. Sure we knew Drew wasn't the best possible solution, but was there anyone pining for Vinny last year ......? Of course not.

I was, as where a few others who actually know something about football.

Testaverde is, was and always will be a better QB than Bledsoe. Of course the same can be said for thousands of other people walking the planet right now.

Early in that 05 run, Our OL was playing pretty well. The first 6 games of the season, Flozell started along with Allen, Johnson at Center, Rivera and Pettiti was getting help from the TE. Our offensive line was playing well. In those first 6 games, Bledsoe threw for 1663 yards, Completed 63.2% of his passes, had a TD/INT ratio of 11/4 and a 101.25 QBRT.

The rest of the season, he went for the following. 1976 yards, 58% Completion Percentage, 12 TDs/13 INTs and a QBRT of 75.05.

Basically, in 6 games, Bledsoe threw for almost half the yards he threw for in 10 Games(313 less), a good 5% lower completion percentage, 1 less TD, 3 times more INTs, and averaged a good 26 points lower QB rating. You look at these numbers and to me, it suggests two things. One, the OL wasn't worse in 05. It was actually better to begin with but it got worse with injury and that Bledsoe produced the majority of his numbers while playing behind a pretty decent OL very early in the season.

would you like to put money on that statement?...

I'll go as high of an amount as you wish but the money must be held in escrow till I have time to pull up atleast 100 posts I made on this very subject...

Yeah nothing like an early retirement...

so what do you say Stautner you game

I admit that I never considered us as going backwards with Drew as a QB over Vinny. I mean I thought Vinny had some talent but he was a 41 year-old guy.

I just knew that Bledsoe wasn't up to my standards as far as being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

You have just shown yourself to know nothing about football - beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I can accept that some may not think Drew was a big upgrade over Vinny, and some may feel he wasn't an upgrade at all, but to suggest that Vinny was hands down, without a doubt better than Drew or that "thousands" of other people could play as well as Drew is not only uninformed, it's moronic.

Apparently Parcells and other NFL coaches over the years felt like Drew was capable, and those guys can be counted among those who "actually know something about football" - you can't.

see obviously you need to check who was on Bledsoe's teams and who was on Vinny's teams before.... and you would realize that when Vinny had talent he smoked Bledsoe's best ever rating...I believe you made a blanket statement with out checking your facts...I have previously in other posts (check archive) listed who Vinny had to throw and run the ball and his olineman and listed Bledsoes'...Bledsoe has had much more talent around him...the only time Vinny had equal talent (1998) his rating 101.6 smoked Bledsoe best ever rating of 87.7 (1997) Vinny's career qbr of 75.2 compared to Bledsoe's career qbr of 77.1 is of a greater worth considering football is a team sport...

if you don't believe me check back in Vinny's prime he played on some God awful Tampa bay teams...

so lets pretend for a moment you were the best QB the world has ever know but you throw to wr's who had both of their arms amputated and you handed off to RB's who had both of the legs amputated and your whole offensive line were decapitated what would your stats look like...well that is just about what Vinny had for the first 6 years of his career how you can just dismiss the talent surrounding a qb is amazing

here is the 87 roster see any HOF or pro bowlers

http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/rosters.nsf/Annual/1987-tb

here is 88 same thing here see any

http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/rosters.nsf/Annual/1988-tb

and it goes on and on now check Bledsoe's and you see Terry Glenn, Ben Coates, Curtis Martin, Keith Byars etc... and the list goes on and on

plus much better defense players also...

Wow, i excluded the Tampa bay years because I KNEW there wasnt any talent there and you go on a post-long rant about the level of talent on the bucs THAT I WASNT EVEN TALKING ABOUT. Congrats, you fail.

Listen skippy, just because that last few the last few posters in this thread called out your ignorance is no reason to get personal with me. Either man up and take their wager that no one said anything, admit you were wrong, or slink off quietly like the typical coward. Your choice.
