This thread didn't age well.
I still feel vindicated being one of the only ones who wanted to draft him last year. Feels like this entire board hated the guy. Then again, I probably knew he would be good because this board hated him.

Taco is a Michigan/Harbaugh guy. They are used to tough coaching.Marinelli praised him when they drafted him. Then publicly called him out after 16 snaps last week. Taco responded with 3 tackles and a sack the following week.
Tells me three things:
1. Rod believes in the ability and potential of the player since he advocated drafting him.
2. The fact Rod publicly dogged him shows even more that Rod does not think he has played to his potential yet-- otherwise why call him out?
3. Taco's response shows that he is teachable and received Rod's message loud and clear.
What exactly is the problem again? Unless you expected him to come in right away as a fully developed Pro Bowler-- you should be pleased with what you are seeing from Taco and Rod right now.
I look at everything through context. If you thought they looked the same last night you either didn't really watch the game or you just are playing contrarian.
The concern about Bosa was due to his college behavior with his best buddy, Ezekiel Elliott.Sadly, I was one of those guys.
I saw Bosa as a solid defensive end but not a impact player.
I was wrong and he looked unbelievable last year.
Which is funny, because he's athletic enough for outside moves, and that's a lot harder for the less athletic OT's to handle.i would like to see how taco in the upcoming games:
1. play against some 1st teamers
2. do outside moves instead just inside moves as he obviously cannot just survive on inside moves.
So far, our defensive line has only played against backups and scrubs. Can't tell much about any of them.
Definitely not a fine wine. More like a glass of milk left on the counter too long. This thread didn't age well.
Edge Taco Charlton, 80.0 overall grade
After playing 16 snaps in the Hall of Fame game, Charlton picked up his first career pressures as he got in on a sack and a hurry while playing 25 total snaps. While his sack came against backup offensive tackle Pace Murphy, it was important for him to get on the stat sheet as continued improvement will be crucial in his rookie season. He also got in on a run stop after beating TE Tyler Higbee.

His measurables are pretty close to Joey Bosas and if I could pick 1 player in the league right now to add to the Cowboys it would be Bosa.
Like a taco that's been left outside in the Texas sun for a week.
So, to your trained expert eye, Tapper has looked better than Charlton in the two preseason games?
I look at everything through context.
I would hope a first-round draft pick could beat an undrafted free agent from Northwestern State that doesn't belong in the NFL, and against the worst offensive line in football. Charlton's sack was basically achieved by going around a tackling dummy.
We'll know more in a month. In fact, we might know a LOT more against the Raiders, who have a good offensive line, if they play their starters.

I was glad to see Taco get the sack, but it looked like he got it against a backup high school OT. It was a gimme. If he can do the same thing at this time against a top OT I will be surprised.
I have just finished watching the first half of the Cowboys preseason game against the Rams. So far I am not impressed with Taco's play in the first half. He did have the one sack but the guy blocking him essentially seemed to yell OLE' as he went by.
Kellen Moore has zero velocity on all of his throws. Looks like he has the mind but not the body to play in the NFL. Noodle arm.
Tapper shows burst on just about every play, but he has to learn how to best utilize it. Neither Taco nor Tapper are super effective players, but at least Tapper is flashing burst.
He beat an undrafted free agent from Northwestern State on that play, you understand.
I know you weren't talking to me, but SO FAR i think Tapper has shown more potential.
But when anyone would mention this about Zeke the majority of the board plugged their ears. It's almost like this place has a bias. The concern about Bosa was due to his college behavior with his best buddy, Ezekiel Elliott.
