I think you want to pass on him as Dallas and let him get on with his life on another team. Best to let that bad situation and PR, stay behind both parties.

Dallas is just desperate for any warm body on the DL so they'll take him back and add to the circus that is the Dallas team.

It looks like the rusty Josh Brent might really be coming to Valley Ranch after all. Shame on Jerra.

I read the article twice and didn't see any new news. I thought we passed the point of "will Jerry bring him back" years ago.

I agree. I will just talk about the football player and keep the off the field stuff to myself.

Brent is a rotation player. A guy who would need to fight to win a roster if he was at his peak IMO. How many players can be out of the game for almost 2 years with some of that time in jail and return to the field and become productive again? I would assume very low. Plus I assume he will have to deal with a football suspension as well.

Football careers are so short and your window is very small. Being out of the game for two years and not training year round, it is very tough to overcome even without considering his mental state and the circus his return would create.

If he got another chance, I think it would be best for all parties to be on a different team...if a team would give him that chance.

Dallas will take him back because he is considered family by Jerry and Jerry always takes care of family. He is VERY loyal. Go back and read the articles on T. Smith and why he wanted to play in Dallas for life. If Brent can return all the way back and make the final 53 and get on the field and start making plays as a DL that would be a bonus. But folks getting cranked up about bringing him back because he plays DL and we are desperate for them are off base. It's not like he was even a starter before all his troubles began. He isn't the second coming of the Manster.

Yeah as talented as JJ Watt... err, I mean Suh...err Brent is the risk (bad pr, distractions, and possible relapse) is not outweighed by the reward of him matching his best season as a cowboy. Sarcasm off

As usual you are misinformed. Years ago he was speeding, drinking and culpable. It was until recently that the possibility of he returning was mentioned.
If you quit watching Bowling for dallors and see recent news you can get catched up and be a productive citizen once agin.

The one he is most qualified to do. Nothing more than anyone would hope for in this situation no matter what job they did. Should an Accountant, who killed someone drunk driving be forced to work for McDonalds for the rest of his career?

I half news for you. McDonald's (use the posesive) half many thousands of accountants working for them. Also CEOs, market analists, warehouseers, truckers -- even architecks.. But you, off course (a double entendre! JC learnt me a thing or too) are off course to think of McDonald's as employing only the gal or guy you buy your chiken nuggets and your happy meals from.
And I say this will all doo respect.:)

We would sign Charles Manson if he ran a 4.4 and could rush the passer.

Leonard Little & Donte Stallworth got a second chance so why should he be any different. Imagine being the reason your best friend is dead and having to live with that for the rest of your life, your job would be the only thing keeping you from killing yourself. It's real easy to judge when you're not in the same situation.

Many work really hard to NOT be in the same situation as Jose Brent. Thank goodness for the majority's devotion to staying on the strait and narrow.

I don't care where he plays football as long as it is not in Dallas. Josh Brent has a history with drinking and driving. Anyone who believes this guy will not drink and drive again after serving 6 months in jail, is being very naive. What will happen when he gets pulled over again for drinking and driving? Jerry Jones would be making a big mistake if he allows Brent to come back on this team IMO.

Brent pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence on June 2, 2009, as a result of an incident from the previous February. He was sentenced to two years probation and 60 days in jail. He was also fined and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.[10]

On December 8, 2012, Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter in Irving, Texas, after a motor vehicle accident in which he was the driver killed his teammate, Jerry Brown.[11] Police documents showed that Brent was driving at least 110 mph and may have been driving as fast as 134 mph right before the crash,[12] on a road where the posted speed limit was 45 mph.[13] Brent later failed a sobriety test and would face 2 to 20 years in prison if convicted.[14] Brent was found by the police pulling out his friend and teammate. Jerry Brown's mother begged the Cowboys to keep Brent as a teammate and not forget him.[15]

On December 26, 2012, a grand jury indicted Brent on one count of intoxication manslaughter.[16]

On May 24, 2013, the Dallas district attorney requested to revoke Brent's bail for not adhering to the monitoring conditions and send him to jail to await trial. The judge denied the request and ordered additional forms of monitoring.[17]

Then, on June 27, 2013, he was sent back to jail after it was revealed that he had failed a drug test on June 19. Before this, he had also failed another drug test in late May, testing positive for marijuana both times.[18] He was released from jail due to a court order on July 7, 2013.

On January 24, 2014, Josh Brent was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter in the death of Jerry Brown and sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years probation.[19][20]

I don't care if his mother forgave him.
This guy has a pattern.
And now we hear that he still has a handler in Wells and will also be working with the Playmaker and Lett which tells me he is still having problems.

No thank you.
If he can't get it he just can't.....too early yet. If it becomes time to show him the door because ..

1. The incident messed with his mental health.

2. He is just too immature or non- committal

then...i fully agree. until then it just personal and that;s fine.

It's really his last chance and if he fails no ones fault but his own if he gets this gift.

I have no problem welcoming Brent back.
My problem is he basically got away with killing another human.
There are people doing 20 year prison sentences for doing what he did.
