ABQCOWBOY;3738834 said:Over react? How do you get over react when from backing out of the deal?
Motorbreath;3738841 said:It's ok, as long as we can get Greinke. I'd rather have Grienke.
theebs;3738839 said:chuck greenberg said rangers made their offer and left....Said he cant give specifics and that ray davis...I think that is the xto co-owner went on this trip.
Apparently lee told them he is weighing his options.
numnuts23;3738858 said:You would have to think if Ray Davis went they brought the $$$ tonight. My guess is Lee is a Ranger by the morning.
theebs;3738864 said:the group that went to see him this afternoon at his agents office were chuck, ray davis and thad levine. Thats interesting to me. Nolan Ryan not going must have made a statement that he has done all he could.
Pretty interesting also that they left him a menu of different options he can select!!!
They need to get this done one way or another and fix the rest of the spots on the team before guys go off the market.
and again on the flip side it leaves the yankees in a weird spot if they dont get him..

nyc;3739697 said:That would be quite molded if the Yankees miss out on both.

ABQCOWBOY;3739701 said:As I understand it, the Yankees made there 7 year offer, the Rangers had discussions with Lee's agent and asked what Lee wants? Lee's agent told the Rangers that that is not how it works and advised them that they would have to put their best offer on the table. They devised multiple offers and presented them to Lee.
I don't have any idea how this will play out but I suspect this is probably not to the advantage of Texas. Lee's agent will go back to the Yankees and try to get more out of them. Unless the Yankees determine that they don't want to spend the money, I think that the Yankees will probably end up with a superior offer. Either way, they will drive up the cost so if Texas does win out, it's going to cost.
I don't know, I guess we'll see.
Stautner;3739703 said:I agree. The process doesn't favor Texas.
ABQCOWBOY;3739710 said:Happy Friday Ernie. How have you been?
Stautner;3739721 said:Good. Sweating this Cliff Lee thing. I have a feeling that a decision will be made within a few days.
What do you think the odds are that the Rangers will go after Greinke if they lose on Lee? ESPN makes it sound like they will go after him hard. I hate giving up more prospects though. We've built a strong farm system, but we started using it to pick up guys late last season, and i don't want to deplete it.
