Looks like the Yankees won Lee

Multiple sources now reporting the Phils are the mystery club and they are now trying to deal Joe Blanton and others to come up with the coin

Sounds to me like his agent might be trying to drive up the price. Hard to tell.

Sounds like Phillies are the 3rd team.

That would be HIGH comedy.

Amaro is a clown.

Doc/Lee/Oswalt/Hamels (assuming that would be the order) Wow...

evan grant is tweeting that he was told that lee was on a jet this morning that landed at love field, went back to arkansas and then back to love field.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good move or make their pitching staff incredible, but they already had Lee and decided he wasn't good enough and had to have Doc.

In 3 years, the guy that replaces Amaro will be really sad he has 3 35 year old pitchers, a declining 25M/yr player at 1st (who can't play 1st), and no depth in his farm system.

Yeah they won a title, and played for another, but they are crippling their future for this run right now.

Not sure if this is repeating but ESPN reported the Yankees will definitely not sign him.

EDIT The Phillies just signed him.

You know, if this is the case, I'm OK with it. Lee never really seemed like he wanted to play in NY and the Yankees made a more then fair offer to him. I think that if Lee wants to play elsewhere, the Yankees should just move on.

Someone clearly doesn't have much of an idea of what they are talking about here.

No depth in our farm system?

:laugh2:

Apparently the Yankees were actually ruled out by the Lee family long before the decision was made. It was between the Rangers and Philly the whole time.

Big winners: Angels and Red Sox!

You had 3 great pitchers already, you lost to the giants in 6 and you figure "Oh, we just need another big time pitcher!" the guy that choked against SF in the WS :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Basically even if you had Lee last year it wouldn't make a difference.

Wasn't there a "Lee to the Phillies" thread that I posted in last night? Why would a boring, benign baseball thread be deleted?

Was it merged instead of deleted?

Man, Phillies basically traded Lee for halladay and said "We think this guy is better than you". He's hurt, but the Phillies offer him a deal and he jumps back with them like the ugly girl with the low self esteem.

didn't see the Phillies thing coming. This gives them a great pitching staff, but i would hav thought the fact the Phillies already exiled Lee to Seattle once would have caused Lee to view them in a less than favorable manner.

Yeah i'd love to know what he is thinking.

He had it made in Texas.

He even said he was peeved by the trade from Philly when he arrived in Texas.
