We know Dak won't be traded or cut and an extension is coming. Creating $18.53M in salary cap give the Cowboys much needed space to bring in some FA's. This is a move I would do in a heartbeat. There isn't anything to think about. Just do it. Zero-negotiation conversion means Dak doesn't have any say.

Great. Let's push another $30 million into 2025 and 2026 on top of the $32 million that is already out there. Then when Dak leave in 2025, we can eat $62 million in dead money and not have a QB.

Who wants to be the Giants and Commanders for the next 5 years?

If you want to get rid of Dak, you may as well trade Micah and CeeDee too - and Ferguson. There is no point keeping these guys on a team they will hit rock bottom for the next 2 years. Get the best deals for them and begin the rebuild.

How many people here would trade away our players to move up in the first round and take Caleb Williams? the USC QB when not USC QB has succeeded in the NFL in the last 25 years?

He has a no trade clause.
If he holds out, they can fine him extensively but only when it gets to official, required work missed.
He can just take the off-season off and report only as required doing zero extra.
He can Randy Gregory it if he wants.

Dak has ALL the leverage here. Sooner you realize that the more you'll understand reality.
Can he afford to sit the off season?
He maybe sitting the rest of his career
Is he going to be happy with no new offer or will HE seek a trade?
With Daks post season play, he has ZERO leverage.

Dak is Mahomes if the switch places. Put Dak in KC with that coaching staff, running game and defense and he is Mahomes.
Dak is so much better than people on here pretend.
But he is NOT Mahomes.
Pat is 1 of 1.

Dak is 6-9 at QB. Maybe 7.5 or ties for 7th best.
He is plus in many areas and below in a couple others.

You aren't replacing him with a better guy unless you have lotto winning luck.
Only about 1 in 3 first overall selections at QB are better than Dak.

but Pat easily is.

If the Cowboys have their harder games earlier in the year (opposite of this year) and they lose, Dak will hear boos.
Possible but unlikely.
Dak has been the QB here for 8 seasons. While he gets roasted at seasons end many times he has never been booed in game.
He was booed by Eagles fan in accepting Walter Payton man of the year just last Super Bowl.
I doubt has any issues getting it going in the regular season except versus elite teams.

Stubbornness is the fear of letting go of your own ideas and that is JJ and his QB.At some point cut your loses and move on.

You "drunkards" can only "focus on one thing", so you're having a mutiny over Dak.

Meanwhile the presumably more refined "sober crowd", who isn't quite so overwhelmed by complexity, is singularly focused on one thing. (Jerry)

I love irony.
The difference since you missed it is focusing on the wrong issue vs. Right issue

I get it. Whoosh. Right over your head.

The bill still comes due but the salary cap goes up each year. So kicking the can down the road creates more salary cap now and take up a less amount of the cap each of the following years.
That’s is true but down the road means Diggs deal gets higher, micah is higher. Lamb actually gets cheaper if we extend him because right now it’s a 5th year option. And we are already gonna push money from Diggs and Martin forward too

Drake Maye is a better prospect. And it's not close.

Total control. Jerry might as well be on a leash. No trade clause, no getting tagged again clause, counting 459.5M against the cap.

Jerry the master businessman got completely taken to school.
And now he's going back to class. If Jerry lets Dak play out his contract and he walks for a miserable late 3rd comp pick, Jerry loses again.

IMO Jerry has two choices here, either trade or extend. I can't think of any other choice that isn't foolish.

They kind of messed up the math. They can get his cap hit down to around 30M without giving him an extension. But that wouldn't even make sense.
