Interesting take on Romo and the 2012 season. Points out what you are alluding to here. Stats don't tell the whole story. That's why there is debate on how good Romo is. Some just go by the numbers, which he's capable of putting up fine numbers. Some look at each game and see that something is amiss.

http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2013/10/09/romo-has-great-4th-qtr-stats-doesnt-make-him-clutch/

I think Romo is a good QB, not elite. Certainly not HOF bound.

I agree that Romo is good and I also wouldn't put him among some of the other QB's he's being compared to in the OP. I would be interested in seeing a similar approach used but with more in depth information and situational stats, I think the clearest picture you can get is by actually going through the game logs although that is not the quick and easy option.

Lets take a look at these elimination games.

2006: Seattle, fumbled snap. He obviously was good enough as a QB to drive his team into the position to win the game. Then the refs blew the call with Witten at the goal line where his forward progress should've sealed the win for us.

2007: Beat the Giants twice by 10+ points during the regular season, they went no a hot streak and ended up beating one of the best teams in NFL history in the Super Bowl. Crayton dropped a walk-in TD and pulled up on a pass in the endzone that would've kept our season alive.

2008: Lost to the Eagles 44-6, not too much Romo could have done here.

2009: Won the first playoff game in almost 2 decades. Then lost to the Vikings 34-3, ditto.

2011: Lost to the Giants 34-31, same game Austin lost the ball in the lights.

2012: Commanders game, a poor performance by Romo, won't defer any blame there. But the defense still gave up 31 points.

2013: Elimination game against the Commanders, he won with a broken back.

That's fine. You and I disagree quite a bit and I do welcome that more than you may realize. Its not opposing views I ignore, its people who invade every thread to say "Jones sucks!!!" All the time.

Its the ones who pass themselves as realists just so they can hate xyz player and rant that in every thread.

I just got tired of wading through it so I used available options to help restore my own sanity in here. If you want to think I'm closed minded feel free. I certainly don't see it that way but hey, we disagree again and I'm OK with that.

That is a respectable response .

Romo has has years of Romo friendly moves and he still can't get past 8/8.

He's had a top 10 defense once.

He's had a 1,000 yard rusher once.

Yet he still manages to keep the team competitive and put up stats that put him in the company of all-time greats.

Most of your opinions are supported on your opinions that you call facts. Like your unproven theory *cough*opinion *cough* that you keep talking about. You are just as biased as those you lament.

A QB's TD to turnover ratio impacts the outcome of games more than any other stat in the playoffs and SB. Turnovers will get you beat especially in post season. The last 5 SB's back up my theory.

I've done the work providing facts to back up my theory. Percy's stats will never put an end to the stigma Romo has until he starts winning elimination games and a championship. He can start thread after thread with stat after stat and it will never change the perception many have of Romo until he starts winning the games that matter most.

Yo, smart guy! Romo is not the only guy on the team...that is trolling at it's best when you try and talk about the team winning games.

No... They are your opinions.

Correct they're my opinions and many who talk football for a living also share my opinions. Any opinion can be strengthened by facts to support it. Many here don't agree with my opinions or those from the experts because they don't favor the Cowboys.

You have no facts when you put the blame on one person, Romo, for losing games. That is a FACT!

Did you completely ignore the fact that 26 GMs were polled and their average ranking of Romo was 8th.

Or that he's had a top 10 defense only once - same year we won a playoff game.

Or that he's had a 1,000 yard rusher only once.

I'd quit while you're behind, it's not a good look and you're only making yourself look like a fool. Just my $.02.

Wouldn't have even been in a position to play in those games, had Romo not carried the team, like he does year in and year out.

It's the ultimate team sport.

It's like a pitcher with a 1.7 ERA that goes 10-12 for the season because he can't get any run support.
This is a great analogy.

Including those that directly contradict your opinions but I don't see those stopping you from spouting your own biased opinions. Just because some don't agree with your takes it does not mean they are just some silly Homer who is not educated about the game. As I said earlier you are just as bad as those you lament.

What makes someone look like a fool is continuing to tell posters you're putting them on ignore only to keep messaging them back. My argument isn't where GM's are ranking Romo my argument was most wouldn't have him ranked ahead of Eli and Roethlisberger.

KJJ, in his rambling PM talks about how he likes to "win arguments" and has 8 million or more followers on the internet.

Consider the source. lol

Look up Big Ben and Eli's defenses the year they won Super Bowls.

And I obviously am a fool for thinking you could ever intelligently discuss football. Peace.
