The Cowboys DBs in general do not pose a physical presence on the field. #24 was playing 2 hand touch yesterday.

Of course i would love for Diggs to be a monster in Run defense also, BUT if i had to choose I'm ok with who he is for what i need him to do. Second if he starts blowing up lead blocks and gets hurt i would be pissed.

The 20 sec mark of the video below is an example of where I think Diggs can be better in run support (click watch on youtube to view)

Diggs plays CB with the mindset of not letting the RB get beyond him. When the RB is near the sidelines there is very little help out there. He's paying attention to the RB not the help coming from the center of the field. So he's slowing the RB down so help can catch up. It's when he takes on the blocks and gets pinned to one side or the other....long runs take place. So no, he is not good at shedding blocks. But, when it comes to actually tackling the ball carrier, he is pretty good at tackling.

So which would you rather....Diggs being aggressive and taking on the blocks and getting pinned, or Diggs playing it safe and not letting the RB get by him.

His tackling is okay, but his block shedding sucks.

Huh? Help was already there. All he had to do was get to the blockers outside shoulder to set the edge and turn the runner back inside. Unless you think that TE is faster than Diggs

Idgaf about my lockdown corner tackling. We pay him and will resign him to a record deal because he’s a top 3 CB, not because he’s a Safety.

Corners jobs are to play the ball. If we are relying on corners to be the guys who hold down the run defense then we are delusional.

I could care less about his willingness to tackle if he’s an All-Pro in coverage. Now if you’re average in pass coverage then yes make up the margins as a run stopper. But no one freaks out at Justin Jefferson for not being a good run blocker lol, his job is to catch passes.

But like I said he's paying attention to the ball carrier not his help from other defenders. He needs to learn to turn his head and look for his help. He's out there trying to make the play by himself instead of using his surroundings.

Jeff Heath used to try to make plays all by himself without using his surroundings also. That used to drive me crazy. He once tried to knock the hell out of a guy who was one yard away from the sidelines. He missed the tackle in the guy scored.

Think about it. When the last line of defense is getting criticized for not tackling enough, maybe you should look at the front 7.

What dumb eyes you have, fingers too to make such a comment. His tackling isn't good at all, nobody is saying he's the reason for all the bad plays, but when the ball is coming his way, HE'S RUNNING AWAY FROM IT INSTEAD OF TO IT
He don't want to hurt his wittle toe. jk:laugh:

Again no doubt would love for him to be all world in run busting and coverage but lets face it...those CB's are unicorns not the norm....He gets paid to cover and does that very well. Love any added run game plays but not expecting my cover corner to blow up runs plays. Make the last tackle YES take on lead blocks..no

We need him healthy and without blown out shoulders.

What does that have to do with Diggs poor play against the run allowing 5-10 yard plays become 15-20?

This is getting really bad for our run D. The guy is like a bullfighter just kinda swinging at guys as they pass by. It really is a problem for a team that is having problems defending the run to begin with
He was tied for the lead in tackles yesterday
