2-Tevin Coleman
2-Bryce Petty
3-Josh Shaw
3-Frank Clark
4-Jacori Shepard or Kevin White
5-Ty Montgomery

Notes:

-I think they trade out. Alot of first round WRs and I believe someone wants to move back into the first to get one. With our targets likley gone ( I even think Owa will be gone) we work the phones. I think we pick up a 3rd moving to about 40-45.

-They seem very interested in Petty. VERY interested. Get yourself ready for that.

-Alot of talk of Clark shooting up boards. Many think he is a top 100 pick now.

-4th could be a WR (Conley) but I think they go with another CB there.

Other than maybe the RB, hard to see much 2015 help outside of special teams.
Depressing.
Not shooting the messenger, just making an observation.

Think about it this way. When you win 12 games its much harder for rookies to crack the lineup then when you win 8. Reasons being a stronger starting lineup and the fact you pick later.

Ive noticed that most of the DE's they like are upside guys. I think a DE pick would be more about 2016 then 2015. I do think they want a CB earlier, but I think they really like Petty. They are putting alot of work in on him

I don't like the fact that we are ignoring the DL just because we signed Hardy. To me he is a one year rental. I want a guy like Eli Harold who can play on all passing downs this season and be ready to pair up with Lawrance next year when Hardy and Mincy are gone.

I hope the staff deals THAT strongly about Petty if we are picking him up in the 2nd and not that because he is the best of the rest in a very weak QB class. Also with Romo's restructuring we are really stuck with his contract for another 3 years.....so.....what's the hurry unless Petty is THAT impressive.

I realize this isn't you saying what you think they should do.
Just saying, this would disappoint me....but I'd get over it:D

If Dallas wants Hardy after this year, they'll keep him. IMO the only way he doesn't re-sign with Dallas is if he has off field issues or doesn't play very well. If he plays like we all expect him to and stays clean, Dallas will give him the contract he wants.

An edge rusher isn't a 43 LB or a RB where they think they can find someone pretty easily to replace a player... No, an edge rusher is a premium position that Dallas wouldn't mind spending the money at.

We do have interest in Harold. It seems most of the DL they are looking at are high ceiling guys whom they can refine. Harold fits that mold.

Petty......im with you. I like the player. But dont see the need especially with the restructure

Coleman, I can see. That wouldn't be a bad pick at all. I think he would be very good in Dallas.

Petty, I can't see before the 3rd (although I could be wrong of course)

Clark, I can't see as early as the 3rd.

I really like Kevin White as a player but Dallas wants bigger/longer corners.

Ty Montgomery in the 5th would be fine and I can see that happening.

You can never have too many pass rushers.see Giants in 2009.
Let's say Harold shows a lot of ability this season then you won't necessarily have to bring back Hardy and give him a $100 million + contract. It gives you options. If we lose Hardy then we'll get a nice comp pick for him.
If Harold is good but not all world then we keep Hardy if he is good. Also even though Lawrence showed flashes you still are never certain until they get a full season.

I for sure wouldn't mind drafting another pass rusher, and you correct in that you can never have too many.

I was strictly addressing Hardy being gone next year because I've seen several people parroting that theory. If Dallas wants him next year on a longer term contract, they'll keep him. He would either have to get in more trouble, not play well, or have a personality conflict with someone important for Dallas to not bring him back IMO. And if he sucks or gets in more trouble, I wouldn't want him back anyway.

.

you forgot about CB Jones and S Randall whom we are VERY interested in also.
I think we will be looking hard also at LB and OT in reds 3-5

The Cowboys won't trade out of the first round.

They made it clear with the Frederick pick that they value that 5th year on rookie deals.

“We wanted to get [Frederick] in the first round because we wanted five years on him. If you get out of that first round, you don’t get it,” Jones said in April, referring to how contracts for second-round picks don’t have an option for a fifth year.

You should withdraw your 401K and any other savings and wager it all on this scenario.

The trade down and the first 3 picks are not unreasonable; although, Coleman could be gone early in the 2nd and he looks like a slower version of Darren McFadden to me.

I don't see Frank Clark in the 3rd. I think he was a 2nd/3rd type player without the character issues which seem significant.

JaCorey Shepherd (Kansas CB) is not a name I see in many mocks.

I don't see them picking CB Kevin White. He is small and slowish. Will McClay made a statement about getting away from drafting specialty players like slot CBs in the top 4 rounds.

Ty Montgomery seems like a really random pick for the Cowboys. (5'11-3/4", 4.51 forty reported as fast as 4.38 unofficially). Struggled to catch the ball at the Senior Bowl and struggled with drops in college.

Close to what I have right now except I'd rather trade down in the 2nd instead of the 1st and Id target a different style rb. Hopefully we can stand pat at 27 and grab Owa....

Owa
trade for 3rd and 4th
Shaw
Mike Davis
BPA O line
Jacorey Shepherd
Bobby Richardson

I could see the 2nd round going in so many different directions.

I seriously could see a WR taken, QB, RB, DL, Safety or CB. We have looked at each of those positions, and not TE or OL, with the Dallas invites, etc that would work in Round 2.

I think the Cowboys are definitely keeping their options open. Better to do that than force a pick.
