Exactly. This guy is being over dramatic. "Coat wrapped around him"? Romo wasn't even wearing a coat. SMH
It was during a sideline shot, he was sitting on the bench with a coat around him with an IPAD in his hands. I don't have the game recorded so I don't have a pic to show you. If you watched the entire game broadcast on FOX you would have seen it for yourself.

I'm FAR more excited for the fans, the team and Dak than I am feeling sorry for Romo.

I saw that and it was not as you overdramatically described. He looked like he was looking over plays. Stop the BS

Love Romo too but as a Cowboy's fan, I feel bad for me the past 20 seasons. I especially feel bad for me last season where it was like the year w/o Christmas. The guy makes $20MM and was literally sitting on the bench yesterday under a sleeping bag - wish I had those problems and sympathy!

I am not so sure Tony is not hurting physically more than he is letting on ....... he may feel somewhat relieved that he is not letting the team down because he cannot physically play anymore.

I cant find the still pic of it, but anyone acting like it didnt happen is being ridiculous.

He was sitting alone with a rejected look. Its horrendous that butt fumble was the active backup. Tony should, at least, be the dressed backup.

Good for the team and good for Dak.

Yes, I do feel bad for Romo. And I do think he is the better player. Not that it matters right now.
At 8-1, this train has left the station....and Dak in driving it with the monstrous engine that includes the best oline and running back in the league.

Anyway, this happens to every player sooner or later. Tony has had a long and good run with the Cowboys. He is very wealthly, young, in god health, everything considered, and nobody needs to feel bad for Tony Romo. HE lived the dream.

Feel bad for what? I think Colts fans felt way worse for Manning when they decided to cut him despite Manning winning multiple MVPs and playoff games, and being a Super Bowl champion... while Romo has is 2 playoff wins in 10 years. People acting as if Romo won multiple championships and MVPs.. heck, he didnt even make it to a championship game.

Don't feel bad for him. He's been a great ambassador for the team the past decade. By all accounts he has a great life, great family and is paid handsomely. The season's not over so his services still may be needed but this is the business he signed up for. It's ultra competitive. I'm so happy for Dak and THIS team more than anything else.

Everything you pointed out is why some fans feel bad for Romo and comparing his situation with Peyton Manning is ridiculous. He never accomplished near what Peyton Manning did in Indy or in Denver. Nothing for Colts fans to feel sorry for with Manning, he won a number of playoff games and championship while he was there. Manning ended his career with several NFL passing records, a couple of championships and will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Romo is stuck on the sidelines after losing his job due to injury to a rookie QB who has a chance to accomplish more in one season than Romo did during his entire career. Dak has already accomplished one thing Romo and not even Troy Aikman ever did and that was lead the Cowboys to 8 straight wins. Romo never got the Cowboys as far as Don Meredith, Craig Morton, Roger Staubach, Danny White and Troy Aikman.

This thread points to why some still want Romo taking over for Dak, they feel sorry for him. It's almost like they would rather throw away a great season that's being led by a terrific young QB to give Romo that one last hurrah to try and win a ring.

Typical response of a fan giving a QB too much blame and too much credit. Was Trent Dilfer a better QB than Dan Marino?

At 8-1, this train has left the station....and Dak in driving it with the monstrous engine that includes the best oline and running back in the league.

Romo is not the better "player" even when he was at his best in 2014 he wasn't playing up to the level Dak has played the first 9 games of this season. Romo is the more polished "passer/QB" or he was at his best and he provides more big plays in the passing game than Dak because he takes chances. However along with those chances come INT's. Dak has been more careful with the ball which has resulted in only 2 INT's in 9 games. Romo had 6 INT's in his first 9 games of the 2014 season. He took 18 sacks his first 9 games that season compared to 13 sacks for Dak. Romo's TD to turnover ratio was 15-7 the first 9 games of the 2014 season compared to Dak who has an 18-5 TD to turnover ratio. Dak's passer rating of 106.2 is higher than Romo's after his first 9 games of the 2014 season. Dak has only had 2 games this season with under a 100.0 passer rating while Romo had 4 games in his first 9 games of the 2014 season with under a 100.0 passer rating.

When you compare the numbers, Dak is currently having a better season than Romo did in 2014. You not only see it with the numbers but how well the team has played. The Cowboys were 6-3 after the first 9 games of the 2014 season and we're 8-1 now. What's been so impressive about Dak is he's been CONSISTENT and he's shown great leadership and poise. He has a chance to pass for more yards this season than any rookie QB in history. He's well on pace for over a 4000 yard season which would make him only the 3rd rookie QB to ever pass for 4000 yards. I know some hate to admit or accept it but he's having a BETTER season than Romo's best season in 2014 and the numbers prove it along with how well the team has played.

What Romo FANS have to ask themselves is would you rather have a few more bigger plays in the passing game, along with more bad plays/turnovers with Romo or the consistency we've seen with Dak and how well we've moved the chains and have avoided the bad plays? Our defense has been better because of how well we've controlled the ball and how few turnovers we've had. When Dak makes a mistake he doesn't compound it with another mistake. He doesn't allow a mistake to rattle him causing his game to come apart. He has CHAMPIONSHIP QB written all over him!

It's the nature of the QB position to get too much credit and too much of the blame. The MVP is awarded mostly to QBs because they influence the outcome of games more than other position. QBs are the only position to be given a won/loss record. I always laugh when fans bring up Dilfer with comparisons to the great QBs simply because Dilfer won a SB with the Ravens. Everyone including the Ravens know they won that SB in spite of Dilfer which is why he was dumped immediately after that SB win.

The Ravens had one of the greatest defenses in NFL history and it was their DEFENSE that won that SB. The Dolphins depended on Marino, they had no running game or a great defense while he was there and it always caught up to them in the playoffs and once in the SB. SF didn't win SBs just off the arm of Joe Montana, they always had a good running game and good defenses but Montana will always get most of the credit for those championships because he was the QB. The Cowboys aren't winning games this season in spite of Dak, he's one of the main reasons we are winning games.

Romo had his chances in 07, 09 and 2014. Those were some real good opportunities to win it all and the Cowboys as a "team" didn't get it done. Romo has to take some of the blame he was the QB. The big issues with Romo during his career have been the "ill-timed" mistakes/turnovers and his decision making in critical situations. In 2014 he played very well in the playoffs, avoiding turnovers but he made a poor decision vs Green Bay to go to Dez on a 50/50 jump ball with just over 4 minutes to play on a manageable 4th and 2 from the Packers 32 yard line.

Even had we scored it would have left Aaron Rodgers plenty of time to win the game with a FG had we not converted a 2 pointer. All we needed in that situation was to move the chains and milk the clock. A pass to Witten or Beasley could have easily netted the first down. The closer we got to the endzone it would have opened up a fade to Dez which is hard to defend. Dak has shown in that type of situation he's looking to move the chains which is what's made him so consistent this season. He's an excellent decision maker especially for a rookie in critical situations.

NY radio is all the buzz about Romo coming to the Jets next season. I don't think the Jets would give up much but if they gave up a late round pick and the Cowboys were able to get Romo's salary off the books, it might be a good move for both sides. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

It's not all about money. Tony is a big time competitor and there's no doubt he's taking this all pretty hard. Put yourself in his shoes... everyone is praising Dak left and right and basically tossing Romo to the side. That's gotta be hard and I doubt he's got much support in that locker room.

This is professional sports, not pee wee football. It's a cut throat business. they chew you up and spit you out in the NFL. Bledsoe lost his job this way to Brady and they never looked back. The Packers moved on from Favre for Rodgers. Romo himself got his start in the NFL because we moved on from Bledsoe and this was mid game during the middle of the season.

Romo will live and be fine. He will go on and play for another team to finish his career like Favre and Bledsoe did, Like Emmitt Smith did.

I never feel bad for any professional athlete. They know the business they are getting into.
