7 time all pro guard. Come on man. Today sucked but no need to detract from a dude who has been an all world guard.
Yeah I do remember Larry Allen getting beat by Joe Johnson really bad back in 1997 or 1998 so I'll hold off. He was in his prime back then though.

IMO Zack is suffering from lower back issues. Same thing that has robbed Tyron of his ability is getting to Zack.

It won't get any better, and the nicks will be worse on a big man when his back can't hold up. Everyday during the season is going to be played in pain. To expect high performance from this scenario is foolish.

There a really high odds he hangs it up after this season.. Especially if we see him go down a few more times this season.

Guy has been one our best draft picks...especially since they made the right call and took him instead of Johnny Football.

With that said.
It is time for him to retire.
I think there was talk about him thinking bout it.
Guy has been a warrior but I think he is just breaking down as he is not the Zack we have seen over the years.
:hammer:

Not to beat a dead horse to death but in person from the end zone, he’s slow and late

Last year was a down year. Vs Cleveland he missed some blocks and I just can't actually say how awful I thought he was today.

This is the first game where he honestly got drove backwards on a consistent basis...all day long. Literally stood straight up....got pushed back.

He gave up the sack last week as well. Sad

I say trade him, get a pick and give him a chance at a ring somewhere else.
Wouldn't be opposed......this team isn't going anywhere. I would say the same thing for Parson too......

But we got a GM that loves 5th round draft picks.....and gives players away.

Hoffman and Bass are both better run blockers. Sad but true. We saw it last year when martin was out.

Unbelievable. For the last several years I've been telling ya'll he was trending down only be told I was crazy.

So, he went from All Pro to should retire since the end of last season. Almost like he really wasn't All Pro last year wouldn't you say?
Wow you have said it every single year and were finally right in what is most likely his last year in the league.

Nostradamus over here.

He despises Martin and has for years. So finally he is right after being wrong 100 times and he is patting himself on the back

He mentioned the word retirement in the off-season. Once that happens you know they are halfway out the door. Not cause he doesn't care, but maybe he knows his body isn't the same as it was in its prime
Pretty much a uphill battle to stay and continue to play at a level of excellence he is used to. Once retirement thoughts creep in and the body is yelling at you it is harder and harder to keep going.

We still need him this season so he can retire after the season ends.

We could have purged and reset this offseason

We chose to pay an average qb the biggest deal in history.

This franchise is done for 6/7 years
Before he plays one game on his extension there will be a quarterback paid more than he is. Recall Hurts signed a “largest ever” deal. His deal started this season and he’s already ninth highest paid. I’m not saying any of it makes sense. But it is reality.

LOL, stop.

Backup QB Syndrome here. Hoffman was an August legend until he lost his job to a rookie who hadn't played C in a few years. Bass is a career backup.

That's not to say Martin has been great and that he isn't nearing the end of his run and that this is probably his swan song here.

PS - Martin missed the Arizona game and the Washington game and only like 15% of the snaps in the Buffalo game. Yes, they ran well against Arizona but they were the 3rd worse run D in the NFL, so not sure you can get much from that. Washington was the last game of the season and they had given up and some starters weren't even playing. In the Buffalo game, the only game they played where they faced a competent run D, the Cowboys struggled to run. So to say Bass and Hoffman are both better run blockers based on that small sample size is a stretch.
