LT Overton Camp

I don’t expect Overton to ever be a pass rusher. He’s more of a strength guy who will just do his job in the box to let others make a play.

I think fans - particularly during draft season - tend to look at DL through a pass rusher prism. In Overton’s case, he was an end for Alabama and all I ever heard about the guy was that he wasn’t great at rushing the QB. Of course, that isn’t what he’s really built for.

Anyway, he’s a strong, rugged guy that isn’t flashy but can help a defense… particularly this type of defense.

Jerry had this to say ab Overton after the draft: “We couldn't afford Osa [Odighizuwa]. We got a guy that got a lot of the things he does for a fourth."

.. and I think he may have been right.

Osa is a great comparison for Overton. And if he can be that good of a player..he will be a steal.

My question is.. when can we start calling him LT. :p
I think that is an odd comparison. I'm not really sure Osa and LT are much alike at all. I chalk it up to Jerry speak trying to "win" the move...

Well, none of us know for sure just by listening to reports and whatnot but I think this defensive line is set even a Ogbonnia(sp?) I've heard that he's like more than holding his end up especially when you're looking for the rundowns it's going to be a stout line going to be hard to move.

And then you just throw in Toia as emergency I don't know if he's on the practice squad but man I just think they overhauled the DL over the last couple of seasons and now I think just from 1st to 3rd string is like I think solid..

Like the player alot. But are we gonna start fanboying a rotational 3rd stringer? Ok then

LT is the second youngest guy on the team. Big lineman aren't grown *** men at age 21 yet. Skipped his Sr yr is high school. I hope we keep him and let him grow into the player we need. Little CBs like Caleb Downs, IMO, don't need to be fully grown to be awesome, DTs do.

If they keep him around he can work on his strength but he was getting folded out there.

I’m not gonna cry over a Day 3 pick but in the 4th round, I want a guy with traits or high upside (ex. Devin Moore) and that’s not Overton. He’s a poor to middling (at best) athlete without significant production. His biggest claim to fame is that he played at Bama which is why folks by default think we got some sorta steal.

They aren’t remotely the same IMO. OSA was a physical specimen for his size. Overton is just a tweener.

I think everyone should give AC a break ..... he is fighting Cancer and going through chemo.
I don't give a spit if he's being hunted by the Kracken. People deserve to be called out on their crap in sickness and in health.

Yup, I can’t stand the new rap, full of swear words and references to guns.

I still listen to rap from the early 90’s when things were more wholesome, I jam the Geto Boys almost everyday at the gym. Songs like Gangsta of Love that really hit home and brought out those warm fuzzy feelings, they sure don’t make songs like that anymore.
I miss the 90's NYC hip hop
