This team just loves wasting 2nd round picks, 2023 draft class looking horrendous so far.
Long term it might not be so bad. I still think there is a good chance you end up with 3 starters. Smith will probably leapfrog Hankins by the end of the year, and Overshown will probably start next year. Starter #3 probably depends on Richards, and I think he has a decent shot at starting some time before his rookie contract is up

He may or may not become a decent player, but what boggled my mind was how high they listed TE as a need. It wasn't top 7 in needs to me.
I see their logic, and it was a strong TE draft. If you aren't getting a Sam Laporta there, you need to look somewhere else

And Bennett turned into a borderline Pro Bowl player elsewhere and Fasano was at least a passable starter. Escobar was the only real bust
They were all busts for us. Bennett was a good blocker, but that was about all he provided for us. We drafted him to be a big part of our passing game and it didn’t work out. Fasano caught 28 passes for under 300 yards his two seasons with the Cowboys. Escobar was a complete flop. None of them came close to living up to their draft status with us. Schoonmaker is off to the worst start of all of them. Even Peyton Hendershot has more catches than him this season.

The Cowboys were interested in Sam LaPorta, and entering last week he was second in the league in yardage for TEs. We settled for what was left and got burned.
