Is this guy for real? I mean, he has a ring yes, but hes not even 30 yet and he wants to call it a career?

Why not. He's already cashed in. Hates the way the Media and NFL treats him. Got treated like a rented mule in the super bowl on the 1 yard line.

Did I mention he already has millions and endorsement deals? When you don't have that much passion for the game best to get out before long term injuries creep up. Enjoy your money. Don't let your money and hospital bills enjoy you.

Many people do not realize that professional athletes are just like everyone else. Some are completely devoted to the game and some aren't. Just life.

I think it's really hard for those who wish they could play to understand. Some of these guys are just so freaking talented, but their hearts really aren't in the game. But since they've been doing it all their lives, they continue doing it if they have the chance to go to the next level. But it takes such a toll on their bodies.

Having said that, I'll believe the latest news if Lynch goes through with it. I think he's aiming for more money.

Lynch is a hard guy to figure out I think he likes football it's dealing with the attention and media that's not his thing. If he could play without having to deal with all of that I think he would be fine but I've never seen a player other than Sanders and Leon Lett who looks so uncomfortable in front of the media.

He talks when he wants to talk i.e., his skit with Gronk on Conan. I wouldn't compare him to Sanders. Sanders was very shy I don't think he did the late night circuit.

I think Conan really set him up to show the entertainment industry that he is great in front of a camera as long as he is himself. Him and Ickey Woods should do commercials together.

Didn't know he did a skit on Conan that's surprising. It could be he's just uncomfortable having to talk about himself. He's not shy like Sanders was but he's clearly not comfortable in front of the media. He doesn't want to talk and he hides behind shades.

Its been out there that hes been considering it for a year or so. They were talking about walking away from him all this time and he just said he would retire.

Have you read the Tony Dorsett article?
Any running back is semi-crazy to play after they've made 10 million total much less 30m or so.
Those guys will be lucky to remember playing in 30 years.

Eh I can't blame him. If he's not playing for personal records then he doesn't have anything he has to play for anymore.

He has his ring.

He has money.

He's had a nice career without getting beaten up too badly thus far.

If he's ready to walk away and is happy with what he's accomplished in his career then more power to him.

I don't get the people who think it's weird that these guys don't just keep playing till their bodies give out just because they could. It's their job just l like any other job and if they've made sufficient money that they can go on and move on with their life then why wouldn't they?

Are you telling me you'd just keep working at your job because you could, even though you're more than set for life, just because?

Makes no sense.

He probably should. He got a lot of money and a Super Bowl ring, fame and notoriety, and still has his health. And he doesn't want to have to deal with a good portion of the job, which is media engagement.

Marion Barber hated talking to the media as well. I think Charean Williams reported him to the league for not speaking to the local media and they ended up fining him.

Maybe he will pull an Orton and retire just so he doesn'e have to go to camp. Maybe he wants nothing more of the NFL and their draconian rules. Maybe he already has a lucrative announcer deal. Maybe he doesn't like Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll.

What makes you think Lynch doesn't have passion for the game?

Though what would Lynch do for the next 20 years if he retired... become a part of the media?
