Lynch's workout

I agree the upside for Goff is like Matt Ryan.

So you ignore how much better of a passer Goff was in college and focus on his athletic ability, at the position where that may be the least important aspect?

Goff may not be athletic but he has great footwork and moves around in the pocket well. I prefer Wentz but Goff has maybe the best footwork I've seen in a very long time

Actually, his accuracy, touch and release all need a lot of work. Not sure what you're watching.

His games?!

Touch, OK, I'll give you that.

Accuracy = 66% completion. How is that it not good?

Release looks good to the naked eye. Not sure what you're watching.

You know if the Cowboys are not sold on Wentz or Goff @4 they are salivating over a Rams call!

That would be a dream scenario....Rams move up for a QB, we move back for a QB and get their #2 and #3 at least. My favorite thought in the draft is a trade down with Rams. We don't even have to go QB at their spot...that might be prime spot for a CB, or Lawson or Rankins.

Goff's movement in the pocket is phenomenal...he is a master of just sliding a little left or right and making someone miss. And it seems like he has icewater in his veins.

Not to pick on you, so don't take this personally. But I hear a lot of posters say, "If the Cowboys don't feel that Lynch/Wentz/Goff are franchise quarterbacks, then I'd rather that they not draft them."

So ... will you or do you think others will be okay if the Cowboys pass, assuming that they've done so because those guys AREN'T franchise quarterbacks?

It's almost like many will be giving the Cowboys a pass if they pass because if they pass that means they didn't think the three were franchise quarterbacks.

Do you get what I'm saying? And do you agree? (This question is open to all who would like to respond.)

If they pass because they don't like them then I'm good with the decision. If they pass because of the Romo window, then that makes them idiots. Thats how I feel about the situation.

From Jerry's comments they won't take one, but the visits say they are open to it. We will likely never know the real reason they pass if they do unless someone leaks the board or the placement of the QBs on the board is leaked.

The leaking of the board would be the only way we could tell, unless Jerry does a Jerry and says, "Yes, we thought Goff was a great quarterback, but we had a more immediate need and really feel Romo is good for four to five more years."

His release isn't as much of a problem as his long wind-up and that 66% completion rate is greatly influenced by all the swing and screen passes he threw. He has habit of sailing passes. It shows up consistently in his tape. I think that has a lot to do with him trying to strong arm so much.

I think Goff is the most ready to play now. My only concern with him is what's his ceiling?

Every gm who passes on the QBs in round one will say they are great prospects. No one says we passed on so and so because we didn't rate him highly. Jerry should praise every player not selected. 1. You will play against them; and 2. They are all possible free agents down the line.

His ceiling could be Drew Brees or Romo IMO. Right now he is a thin QB....with weight room work he could improve his arm strength and physicality....Brees did that and it has served him very well. Goff seems to have some of Romo's escapability too and is the best best at making his reads. So I don't think just because Goff is considered more ready today it means he is limited to being an Alex Smith...although SMith has carved out a decent career. Could easily be better than Tannehill and certainly has the physical ability be better than Andy Dalton.

What great QBs have had a cannon? I can only think of Favre.

Elway had a cannon.

Moon had a very strong arm.
Aikman, while not a cannon was well above average.
Bradshaw had a strong arm.
Namath had a strong arm.

Marino had an amazingly fast release.

So Elway is the only one on that list with a cannon. It's not a prerequisite for being great in the NFL. Lots of mediocre QBs with a cannon, like Mallett, George, Leaf.

We certainly need a QB and if the scouts think he could have a ceiling like Drew or tony I'd snatch him up at 4. I know we have other needs as many point out but unless romo spends this season or next on IR we aren't gonna get this chance to take a guy and let him learn before he is thrown in and although I like Wentz more if we had to use a QB this year Goff is much more ready to handle it. His size doesn't bother me. As long as a QB can hit the open reciever I don't care how skinny he is

Yeah...this will be the 3rd time I believe that they've talked to him etc.

Not just looked at him...but we saw him at the Combine, I am sure we had someone there today and we worked him out on March 26....now working him out again. This just might be the most we have ever looked at a guy.
