If he clears waivers and you can get him on PS you can protect him but he has to clear waivers and he’s better than what some teams have. But I don’t think you could go the other way either or someone would claim Milton. He’s actual developed a lot in his time here.
He will make $2.5 million, on the 53, or if he gets cut, and had no other offers at that point. I think he is safe to get to the PS. But will cost that hit against the cap. Plus what his PS pay is.

Not saying it is what I personally would do, but I think Machota nailed the OL. I think the team will keep 10 OL and I think we keep all of Thomas, Shelton, Keegan and Leverett
They did whiff. Kids getting manhandled by 3rd stringers fighting for a spot to warm the bench. They not going to admit that though.
I just don't have us keeping 10. I think we can get Leverett on the practice squad. He's been on three other teams, so I don't think the demand for him is high.
What I mean is when they drafted him they knew he was a project. Nothing should’ve changed between now and when he was drafted. Unless they didn’t know he was raw and needed developing…..
Yup, I have no clue. Toss up what we do, but not sure if it's him or Keegan if they keep only one. Both play it but Leverett has a more center experience, right? and was brought in for that and also played it more in the preseason? Bass is our clear backup OG and might even be our first C off the bench. Heck if the team kicks Tyler out Bass might be the first OL off the bench no matter who goes down. No way 3 IL are active on game day but 2 will be for sure. I just struggle putting both Thomas and Shelton on the squad when Leverett and Keegan are much better than both of them.
Agreed. I think the two tackles only make it because Thomas is obviously our swing tackle by default right now and Shelton was a fourth-round pick this year, so we wouldn't want to risk him to waivers. I think the calculated choice would be to waive Leverett just because other teams had a shot at him and didn't want him so they might still not want him over what they've got. Cornelius is different for me because we don't know whether other teams might want him, but because he was a sixth-round pick last year, I think there could be less interest than there would be with Shelton.

i understand that, but if a long term project was always the plan with this kid then they needed to have had a legit swing tackle brought in instead of trying to find one amongst the UDFAs and practice squad players on the team.

Agreed. I thought he was signed to a guaranteed contract this off-season, 2.5 mill. I just assumed his spot on the 53 was not ever in jeopardy - thought they were just fighting for 2 & 3.

I think they thought Thomas was going to be their legit swing tackle and Shelton could be kept as the fourth tackle and developed. I mean, they had planned to have Thomas compete with Guyton for the starting LT job. He has taken a giant step back for Cowboys kind.
