Brooking's rating actually went down about 4 or 5 points after he signed with us compared to the ending rating from last year. Same with every other free agent we've signed the last five years. They always go down when they become a Cowboy, even if they did nothing to deserve the downgrade.
Every Cowboy that signs with another team seems to go up as well. See: Canty, Burnett
Actually at the start of the year, Brookings rating was higher. Something like 87 or 86, he was rated higher than Bradie who had a hell of a year last year. Over the season, for whatever reason, they dropped Brookings rating so both he and Bradie ended up at like 84.
I thought after Bradies year last year, he'd be closer to 90 than 80, guess I was wrong.
I like the potential stat cause it finally allows you to find gems later in the draft. As you all know, used to be if you drafted a guy that was rated 70, he probably wasn't going to get much better than that. Another improvement is that high draft picks now lobby for ridiculous contracts, so if you keep trading for top 5 picks, you'll end up with some cap killers.
Unfortunately, the dolts forgot to program hold outs so if you dont sign the guy right away, instead of you keeping his rights he actually goes to another team, not even free agency.
I'm hoping that next year they spend a lot of time enhancing franchise mode cause it's way behind franchise modes in other sporting games.
