I have a similar problem. Too many balls go through the hands of the receivers and end up caught by the defender behind him.

It just seems like when you turn the difficulty up, rather than making things challenging the game just starts cheating.

I won't even get into the superhuman 2 minute drill the cpu always runs.
I hear ya on all points and you're really talking gospel about the CPU. Don't even try the prevent if it has to drive the field on you. It will throw the ball into the smallest window if the quarterback is not feeling any kind of pressure.

The developers are already on record as saying the initial overall team rating is arbritrary. It's not based entirely on the players on the roster.

I read an interview where the guy responsible for setting them was talking about how they tried basing it off the players but it never really worked out the way you'd expect, so I wouldn't get too caught up in that.

they would benefit from a 'team unity' rating of sorts, where the team can be better or worse than the sum of their parts. like this year the broncos and bengals are playing better than what the talent level they have is because they are playing as a team. and washington and oakland have more talent(it seems) than other teams but they cant focus it right.

so have a rating that elevates the play of a bad team, and lowers the play of what should be a better team

Miles Austin is a 80 now...that seems about right..

My only beef is the fumbling...they changed the triangle from tucking the ball in to jumping..I can honestly say I have never tried to hurdle a defender

They likely (though wouldn't admit it) program "catchup code" into the game like in some racing games...when the CPU gets down by a certain amount, the game code "boosts" them, and thus the ridiculous drives.

There is no reason why the Raiders should be able to drive down the field for a TD against me. None. I traded the game in 3 weeks after I bought it because it was full of crap.

They should let the same studio that develops NCAA Football develop Madden.

I reallly think the potential system is very screwed up. It's based too much on age. If Marc Bulger had a breakout year in real life, his rating would go way up in Madden 11, let's say he had a huge year this year (not that it would ever happen,) his rating next year might be like an 85. But in Madden you could have a great year with a not so great player and their potential would hold them back, that's bull. Not to mention, guys like Miles Austin and Tashard Choice should have their potential set to 'A'. (That's not a changeable stat is it?) Same thing with Keith Brooking though, at his age, his rating will either stay the same or go down regardless of how good he does his first year with your team, but in real life, it will probably be higher in Madden 11 than it was this year.

Brooking's rating actually went down about 4 or 5 points after he signed with us compared to the ending rating from last year. Same with every other free agent we've signed the last five years. They always go down when they become a Cowboy, even if they did nothing to deserve the downgrade.

Every Cowboy that signs with another team seems to go up as well. See: Canty, Burnett

Actually at the start of the year, Brookings rating was higher. Something like 87 or 86, he was rated higher than Bradie who had a hell of a year last year. Over the season, for whatever reason, they dropped Brookings rating so both he and Bradie ended up at like 84.

I thought after Bradies year last year, he'd be closer to 90 than 80, guess I was wrong.

I like the potential stat cause it finally allows you to find gems later in the draft. As you all know, used to be if you drafted a guy that was rated 70, he probably wasn't going to get much better than that. Another improvement is that high draft picks now lobby for ridiculous contracts, so if you keep trading for top 5 picks, you'll end up with some cap killers.

Unfortunately, the dolts forgot to program hold outs so if you dont sign the guy right away, instead of you keeping his rights he actually goes to another team, not even free agency.

I'm hoping that next year they spend a lot of time enhancing franchise mode cause it's way behind franchise modes in other sporting games.

FALSE. The Cowboys have been consistently bad on Madden.

Eh I've been playing Madden since Super Nintendo. Obviously they were a power house team until around 98/99.

After that, it didn't matter how poorly they did, Cowboys were always over rated. Cowboys would constantly have a higher overall than teams that made the playoffs, even when Cowboys didn't. Cowboys had their worse years in the 2000's but still constantly had an overall > than teams with better records the previous years.

Keep in mind I"m speaking OVERALL Rating, not how the team plays. Every QB we've had since Aikman has sucked enormous balls in Madden, until Romo.

Keep in mind, for Madden 10 they did a complete ratings overhaul. They changed the rating system. In previous Madden's ****ty players would be anywhere from 70-80, now ****ty players can be anywhere from 40-70. There is a huge difference in stats now. Being a 90 in Madden 09, and a 85 in Madden 10, is the same thing, if not an upgrade.

Any particular reason why Folk can't seem to kick over 40yrds for a field goal? Every other kicker i have used can go further.

They were coming off a 13-3 season and had 13 pro bowl players. Wouldn't that be the reason they were rated that high?

I get the reasoning behind it. But even when the Cowboys underachieved and went 9-7 they still were better than most NFC teams including the Cardinals. I'm not complaining. I'm jut saying we don't have any grounds to complain because they've been rather generous to us in the ratings department. You can't blame them for not being completely sold on guys like Sensabaugh and Austin. And hell even Romo.

I've kicked a 60 yarder with him and can kick 55 yard field goals with Folk quite consistently. Do you know how to kick field goals? You can kick 50 yard field goals with terrible kickers in Madden.

I highly recommend using Buehler as the field goal kicker in Madden. He's money from the 45-yard line and in (so, what, a 62-yarder?). Possibly even as far as the 46, but the 45-and-in is where I know it's always going through.

can't believe the guy who complained about the raiders driving down the field on him.. so he returned the game 3 weeks in. i'm not even sure if that post was a sarcastic joke, because it's you blatantly just sucked at the game haha

i wanted to also say, that the fumbles are stupid in this game. constantly happening even when you hold onto the ball with 2 arms by holding A. and i hate the new "scrimmage" for the ball on fumbles. it's annoying and happens way to often. occasionally would be nice... there are times where my guy has an open lane to pick up the ball and run and will randomly end up in the button smashing war.

Sub Folk out and I have hit 63 yard FG's this way. Also use Mcbriar on KO and he can really boom them.

For human vs human play, no Madden or any other football video game is as good as Tecmo Super Bowl on the ancient NES 8 bit console in my opinion.

All you guys talking about making field goals from 60+ yards out with Folk and even Buehler can't be right. I've done some perfect aligned and full power kicks with Buehler and he barely had the leg for 52-53. Maybe with a lot of wind. Is that the situation? Or do ya'll play on a different skill level? I keep it on Pro. I know a lot of people use sliders and stuff.
