Madden just said best thing he's seen in preseason is Dallas D!

They played well but considering it was week 1 of preseason nobody should be evaluated the best or worst of anything yet.

Greg Ellis got some love.
Normally I completely disregard anything that comes out of Chrissy's mouth. However his comments about Ellis were :hammer:

Wow. We're a great preseason defense. Big whoop.

lol... I think the biggest thing about the defense is the depth. We know the 1st unit is great. I think that's what JM was referring to.

We can all agree that we do have very good depth and very good young talent.

I want to see the results once the regular season starts... Big difference between Pre Season and Regular Season

Yes, but preseason does show strengths and weaknesses. Almost every problem Dallas has had over the past few years was clear during the preseason long before the season started.

A D that is filthy in the preseason will carry over.

It is preseason but I think about the times that the Seahawks went to 3 or 4 wr sets and we were still in our base 3-4 defense.
We held them to 3 points.
Watching tonights game you have to notice how much more depth we have than Seattle and Indy does on defense.
It's easy to see that.

Best post of the thread! I watched the Hawks game 5 times and sure it's PS, but they don't have the depth we do. My best friend is a 40 year Colts fan so we both watch the other guys team every week. We both have NFL ticket and NFL channel and we tape all Colts/Cowboys game and critique them for the other guy(going on 3 years now). I told my buddy the same thing you just said. After i watched the game TWICE tonight, i know Indy has a good front line D, but the depth is lacking. He agreed and said the Cowboys were as deep as he's seen them since we started this process 3 years ago. He really liked this Watkins kid :)

I was actually pretty underwhelmed with our pass defense, but my expectations may have been excessive. We'll get another good look tonight.

Is that with or without Brett Favre playing Free Safety??

"Yeah ... heh, heh ... ol' Brett would have made a great safety. His uhhh (clears throat) ... love for the game would have translated well to the defensive side of the ball. I bet Ol' Brett would hit ya ... heh, heh ... and then fart on ya after he knocked ya down. He would be running around out there on defense .... with all the stuff hanging out and the sweat .... just loving the game ... heh, heh... (clears throat). His teammates would respond to his enthusiasm ... I know I do ... heh heh. Ol' Brett makes me feel young again. I love Ol' Brett. No, I really do."

"What about Joe Montana on defense? Huh? Huh? Or Jerry Rice? They could play any position. Joe Montana could have been a nose tackle. He's a little small but size comparisons are often times rather dubious ... or so I'm told."

Reminds me of the two idiots in The Waterboy when the one guy says something like.

He's the best tackler I have seen since Montana :laugh2:

LOL...my brain read that as: 'He got electrocuted/burned while singing and trying to open a butter packet'

That's a funnier mental picture! Madden singing and OWW!!!

I remember Madden being one of the first to notice, and mention, what was going on at the Ranch in 90-91.He does have to many senior moments calling the games but give him some time and he does know what he is talking about. On the other hand, I don't want this defense hearing how good they are before they even play a reg season game. Overconfidence is a killer.

all reports from camp are that the D has a swagger to them, I don't think they need Madden pimping them to give them confidence in themselves, but I too hope it's not overconfidence, but BIll does a great job of keeping his units grounded, and we got alot of professionals on D
