Nope, it was an official review. coaches can’t challenge inside of 2 minutes. They took their sweet *** time to decide to review it, but it was definitely an official review.
I don’t think you can challenge under 2m.
Good point! I wasn't thinking about that, I was just thinking it was a really smart move on the part of the Vikings to freeze our kicker, while challenging the play.

I wonder who he hit up as kicking guru in the off-season the ball is coming off his foot different than his first go around. I think his mechanics and setup were tweaked a little.

I'm kind of wondering if he got some help while in New Orleans. Of course, what he has said is that he learned to focus better after we cut him and tune out the distractions of life. It doesn't seem to me like that's all there is to it, though. I think he tweaked his process as well.

Most kickers need time, there is a reason why journeyman float around there is a flaw in their game but eventually they fix it or they will be just weekly thoughts when a team loses a kicker.

Maher's been playing pro ball since 2013, though. That's one reason I wasn't initially happy that Dallas re-signed him. He had established himself as an 80-something percent kicker (lower 80s) and I didn't think he could change that at this point in his career. Glad to see I was wrong.

The fact that he actually nailed that 60 yarder 2 times in a row has to be an unofficial NFL first. I can't recall if any other 60+ yard FG other than this one had to be re-kicked, and was good again.

Glad Maher is having a great year. Kickers often bounce around before settling into consistency…it’s working out well for us.

Gives him a chance to put it straight up the middle, and that second one could've been from 70.
That second make from 60 was glorious and a big middle finger to the lazy trash refs.

60-yarders have never been the problem for him. Inside the 50 used to be, but he appears to have fixed that.
McCarthy should have let him kick it in OT last week. I felt better with him than I did with our offense.

If you watch his kicks this year he has less that 'knuckleball" before they start turning end over end. Kicking is like a golf swing if you go up there trying to kill it the ball will go wherever. I know one of his misses he tried to kill it the ball did the little knuckleball thing then went wide.

Maher was a beast! Yeah, I know, indoors and all that... so what.
Nailing that 60 yarder after the bs was awesome!
He should've given the DX "Suck it" move afterwards.

He has to be the biggest surprise on the team. I can remember when he can't even hit the side of a barn. Now he's nailing these 60 yarders like their extra points.
In his first stint here he couldn’t hit the side of a barn from inside the barn.

It is very possible the Cowboys will have opportunity to allow Maher to attempt to tie or break Justin Tucker's 66-yard fg record (from 2021); indoor stadium games, a stout defense will help. The player's earned a shot at this and I hope to heck he gets it.
I dont think there are many of us now who doubt he can make that kick- and you have to visualize a kicker making a kick from his own 44 yd line. Holy cow, man.

I joked about him hitting a 70 yarder. That second kick that stood looked like it had close to 70 on it. I think Maher could legit hit one from 70 if the opportunity were there.
