Well then we have to replace him. Hopefully, we draft someone before he’s done as with Romo. Again, that’s not easy. At any point we can get a viable replacement I'm for it. Just not starting over for the sake of it.

I’m not sure they saw Dak as a Romo replacement (considering they kept trying to draft other guys prior to drafting him). Even if you believe in a young guy and his practices are very encouraging, the team has to start over with the “unknown.”

The team did not have to sign him prior to this season, but chose to out of fear of that unknown future. The team with this QB has shown a plateaued trajectory in the playoffs, and against the best teams. The typical playoff game for this QB is to start extremely slowly/poorly and occasionally pick up his play much later in the game (typically after the opposing defense has altered their alignments). After a decade of this, the club could have just waited to see his performance in the postseason this year (should they make it). If he had great success, give him the giant contract then.

I see a lot of talk about the playoffs being a small speed bump or hump to get over, but unfortunately that hump is likely the size of Mt. Everest for him psychologically. This idea that a team has to have an equal or better alternative before deciding to move on from an aging QB is just silly. The grass may not be greener, but life will go on after the glory of Dak, lol.

We have Dak for 4 more years. So we will see what happens.

Which of the first round picks this year, do you think, will have better play than Dak these next 4 years. Take your pick and we can compare in a few years.

The last 6 years all QB’s besides Brady and Mahomes have failed. And Stafford (Mcvay) once.

I'd love to draft his replacement within the next couple of years. I know it is a 4 years deal, but the way I see it is we need to decide at the end of year three whether we will move or cut the cord.

The QB is here until they do not like the match between his contract and performance-and when they feel like they can take the cap hit.

That is the unfortunate comparison that many fans get caught up in. It’s so tough to judge each QB on everything that’s going wrong because so many teams are setup to fail no matter who the QB is. Bryce Young does not look confident, but the Carolina is a terrible team that also traded tons of assets that might have made them better.

The majority of QB’s are mostly a product of their surrounding talent. Dallas has had excellent surrounding talent for Dak the bulk of his career, and though there have been a handful of injuries the team has been mostly healthy. The young QB’s are on mostly young unestablished teams. One thing that helps in Dallas (and it’s weird saying it) is their consistent front office (lack of turnover). CJ Stroud and Brock Purdy look just fine currently. Teams just have to take the leap of faith and hope for the best.

So the people who are like "what's so impressive about Dak's 179 yards?"

Well.....Even Nick Wright states that that statline is deceptive.

He had 179 yards because he sent the game to garbage time early, and basically played the 2nd half on sleep dial. Just possess the ball, run it a bunch of times, throw safe passes, get a few first downs and call it a day.

Game was effectively over with a half left to play after the punt return TD. 27-3

I think Dak's ranking is fair. Thoughts?

He is ranked too high. His stat line was similar to Lamar. He needs to be in that tier with Tua, Baker, Lamar, and Herbert. The defense carried the Browns game by a long shot.

I also think Goff should be higher. Stroud should also be higher.

Year 2 for CJ. Looks good but so did Watson.
Young is not good and won’t be good.

That’s another mistake fans also make. Wishing that their team would take a leap of faith. Especially when there is a pro bowler on the roster. Has that happened? A guy finishes 2nd in MVP and the team takes a leap of faith shortly after? I can’t remember any, but maybe

After this discussion I’m more confined Jerry made the right call. We will see.

Yup, we will see. And last years accolades do not predict what happens in age 32 and onward seasons-he was already under contract for this season.

I mean the offense looked great until they took their foot off the gas. I am not sure it was a good idea to do so but you could very clearly tell the moment when the offense shifted from trying to score to trying to avoid turning the ball over.
I understand being careful and conservative with a lead, but Dak was missing open receivers and going three and out. That's not a good way to burn the clock and close out a game. Dak and the offense were only good for about one quarter of the game. Defense and special teams won this game. I'm happy with the win, but the offense has to do better.

I'm sure you think Dak deserves placement into a tier well above the 1st tier, but I watched a different game this past Sunday. I thought it was a performance that was way below average and borderline garbage for a player who just received the largest pay day in NFL history. But you and the OP think otherwise. Who am I to try to change the minds of the inexorable masses. I won't even bother wasting my time.
