Make 94 Great Again

This team is not going to go out and hand out 100 million dollar contracts to any pass rusher. We will likely continue our strategy of looking for bargains in free agency with maybe a little more urgency than we did in the past.

Our strategy will likely consist of deals ranging from 1-3 years without any real long term commitment in regards to guaranteed money. Players that would accept deals like this are typically veterans or players coming off an injury.

Demarcus Ware is a free agent. He has said that he doesn't plan to retire. Considering how classy we were with letting him go and his admiration for the organization...if he decides to leave Denver, you got to think he would want to come back and be that missing piece we need.

I know he is close to done but special pass rushers can be effective well past their prime in a limited, 3rd down role.

Bring back Ware for a season as a speciality pass rusher and make 94 great again!

Except Tapper has never played a snap and Ware would've been 4th on our team last season in sacks despite only playing in 10 games, starting 8.

He could be done...but as a situational pass rusher, he could add value and would probably lead our team in sacks easily if he stayed relatively healthy.

He's 34, a free agent, and clearly not a 3 down player anymore. He likely wouldn't be very expensive (like $4m/year, $8m guaranteed?)

He would fit well with our defensive line philosophy of numbers and depth and constant rotation. Coming back to the Cowboys to a team that was good as they were last year, knowing he'd only have to play like 30-40% of the defensive snaps, and have a very specific job that he's very good at (get after the QB) seems like a good deal for him.

And a better deal for the Cowboys than trying to go after one of the more expensive premier talents like JPP.

Plus, we could use the veteran presence on the D-line, which otherwise has a bunch of younger unproven guys on it.

I'd have to say No. We gave enough needs and injury question marks already so I wouldn't look to add another one. And Ware is very clearly breaking down. I feel he was hurt more plating 4-3 end the first time, and a return to that would only make things worse.

We already have enough bad backs on the team as it is. I'll always appreciate Ware - and the 3 #94 jerseys that still hang in my closet - but I have to vote against a return.

I think Ware could help us, but his salary would have to be very reasonable. He isn't worth what he once was.
