Who’s available already? You’ll almost have to find an 0-4 team with a player on an expiring deal to even get a call back this early.
If the bengals lose this week they will be 0-4. Is there any dt on that team we want?

The guys we would want (BJ Hill/Sheldon Rankins) we probably dont want anything to do with the contracts. The guy to keep an eye on in Cincinnati is Justin Rodgers who we cut from camp this year. He could be signed from their practice squad at any time. Not sure if the Cowboys are looking at it this way or not, but if they lose the next couple games I would rather get a young guy like that snaps instead of Linval Joseph who likely wont be here in 2025.

No thanks. Only trading I would be happy to see is Cowboys moving off some players. This team has a ton of holes to fill and they're not going to be making much noise this season. Plan for the future though.

The reason we're dumpster diving now is all these overpriced contracts and kicking the trash can down the road.

So you bring in somebody who has a great year. You want to keep him. He wants to be paid.

Never worked yet has it?

Nothing changes if your ultimate goal is winning a SB as long as the current QB is under center.

I'm using him as an example because he is a name being discussed as being available. But, I don't think Adams would cost an exorbitant amount in draft capital at all with his contract and at his age, but like any trade you have to give up picks or players to get something. This is true whether the trade is on draft day or before the trade deadline. Most importantly, no they wouldn't have an absurd cap hit to move them at all. The Raiders would have a HUGE salary cap savings if they traded him. That would be the whole reason for trading him

I would hazard a guess that any team wanting him will need to part with at least a second rounder. He may be 31, but still is in very good shape and can still pick up big numbers with a better offense.

The contract he has may not hit LV as bad after looking at more details, though the remaining signing bonus would get accelerated to them. It would be a short term rental for a team unless they wanted to give him a new deal (he’s unlikely to play on the remainder of that contract as is). His situation seems more missing piece to some actual contender’s puzzle than just a good add for future years.

Again, the team needs to wait until the deadline to get more information on the team as currently constructed.

The whole league is though. 49ers are 1-2. The teams winning aren’t juggernauts. It’s looking wide open.

Yeah, but from a Cowboys’ perspective is that this team? If the team had not gotten beatdown from the Saints and Ravens, I might think they showed enough promise to invest further. Now, the best thing they can do is to collect more information on the team over the next 3 games.

Seems to happen almost every year. Pull the trigger on a difference maker on D . LB, DT, DE. We make two more stops on D a game, and the team is instantly better.
One of those "upgrades" is not going to make a difference in where this team is headed.

if we could get someone like Hankins only a little better for a reasonable price, that could make a real difference IF Mazi truly has come alive
Then the middle of our D is no longer a critical weakness

This sounds suspiciously like Rockport who wanted Jerry to go out and get a “ DT “ . 4 games into the season teams haven’t thrown in the towel willing to send Dallas “ difference makers “ .

As it is Dallas lost a 4th rounder for a 3rd team QB and lost a 6th rounder for a DT Phillips who has gone IR with a mystery injury he’s so good . Stop throwing draft picks in the garbage .

The line in general played better last night , the entire D . Hopefully it travels to Pittsburgh .

The remaining bonus would be accelerated and it would still a huge savings to them. Adams would IMO definitely play under that contract as it would pay him what the top WRs are getting for both 2025 and 2026. So it would be up to the team to decide if they wanted to pay him that amount at this point in his career as he is under contract through 2026 or if they want to cut him after the year with no dead money. The question would be does a team want to pay him that for his 33 and 34 year old seasons. If trading for him, most likely a team would ask the Raiders to eat some of that contract by restructuring a certain dollar amount into a current year roster bonus and reducing the 2025 salary and/or 2026 salary by a like amount (I think this is what was done with Cooks when we traded for him).

Totally agree on waiting to see who is available, what our needs are and if we are even in a position that a trade is worth it or not. Right now it's unclear where we will be in 4 weeks.

Absolutely not. We are not winning the SB this year and will be rebuilding in the off season. Leave the picks for 2025
Agreed. If they wanted to go places, they would have already done it over the offseason....

Can you give some player names that they should trade for?
Would consider throwing a late round pick for a Khalil Herbert, getting marginal snaps in Chicago.
8 attempts for 16 yds and 1 TD, 2 for 4 receiving.
If nothing else, he does know how to set a screen play.
