Making Wade the scapegoat

WAY too many people in Dallas are hiding behind the biggest bullseye in Dallas....Wade Phillips

As I have said for some time now...there are TWO head coaches in Dallas....which means there are none. But anyway it is Wade AND Garrett. I do not care what stats and rankings say....Wade is getting it done MORESO than Garrett. Garrett has proven that he has trouble scoring against good defenses. And you can argue, so does everyone. But that is not true....while I do not expect 30 against a good defense.....is 21 too much to ask for? How many points did we have against Denver, the Packers, the Giants the 2nd time....the Commanders, the Eagles. Heck even the Raiders game we SHOULD have scored more. So that suggests to me we are merely a good team that is just losing to teams that are better than us...and when I say better...not just the players, but the coaching as well.

Now as far as the players are concerned, Bradie saying the Chargers knew what we were running....well does that account for the fact that Phillip Rivers NEVER felt uncomfortable. Does that account for the fact that on 3rd and 10+ we could not get off the field. They toyed with us. When they HAD to step on the gas they did with ease. The core of James, Newman, Flozell, Witten, Gurode, Ratliff, Ware, Barber, Romo have not won anything...so this thing needs to be shook up this offseason.

I said it at the beginning of the year and last year... Garrett is the number one impediment to success on this team... San Diego has been on-fire as of late when it come's to offense, and their defense is average and banged up... Garrett couldn't score and his only success lied in power formations, running up the gut on that 99 yard, contrary to his favorite tendencies...

yea, that defense was a power house, well for a few games against mediocre teams that defense was great, yesterday the pressure it put on Rivers was astounding, 15 more touchs and I think Spencer would have had a sack too.

No doubt about it. Garrett is going to get this entire staff fired, and that's a shame.

I was happy when I heard the news we'd gotten Jason from Miami, because he was considered a great young prospect and I loved the idea of getting some young blood and fresh ideas in here. I don't even blame Jerry so much for taking a chance on making him the OC. It was kind of risky, but I can see what he was thinking. But it turns out he was either too inexperienced or simply not good enough, and it's a shame. Even with a very good QB, several good OLmen, his handpicked highest-paid OL coach in the NFL, three good RBs, and a possible HOF tight end -- how many young OCs get more toys than that? -- our offense has gone steadily downhill.

I posted this in your other thread...

Even though our defense has some warts, we are keeping other teams from scoring. SD is the #1 scoring offense in the AFC. They average 28 points a game we held them to 20. For the most part the Defense has gave this team chance to win most of the games this year.

If the freaking offense can score more consistently, we should not be in this predicament.

Im sorry but I am pretty sure Houdson Houck is trying to get fired too, look at that Oline and tell me why it doesnt live up to potiental. Got another name for you since fans really know the team, explain to me why Campo and Bret Maxie are still here, or do you enjoy your DB's playing 10 yards off and your safties just giving up big plays when they find the time.

Because Garrett is calling formations that aren't suited to their strengths, which is power blocking. Whenver they go this formation, like they did on that 99 yard drive, they scored. If Garrett wanted zone blocking primarily, then he should have gone Mike Solari, like Wade wanted...

I would agree with this, but logic says "no". Im sorry Jenkins is the only one who can get interceptions? WHAT???? This guy is the only CB playing right now and hes playing for two guys. Sensabaugh is playing well, but Hamlin and Brown arent worth anything. Lets not even talk about the line and Spencer "I can touch the QB but wont sack" is not living up to billing.

Brookings is so good, I dont even know if anyone remembers Bradie James is out there. And thats without getting the rest of the scheme of our defense.

Speaking of finding time -- when you get some, check out SD's scoring totals for the year. They've scored at least 21 points every single game... Except for yesterday. They have a great offense led my a great young QB and a great OC, and it's not reasonable to expect to completely shut them down when the weather and conditions are picture perfect.

Funny, everyone said going into the game that we'd have to win a shootout, but most thought we could because their D was so average and banged up. They were down to a 3rd or 4th string nosetackle and a rookie safety, among others.

But we couldn't score more than 10 points against them until that garbage time TD that they gave us in exchange for time off the clock.

Not even I can blame Campo for that. ;)

It's just funny people are blaming Wade after the Garrett debacle. The only thing I can blame Wade for is not going into Jerry's office and telling Jerry to f-off while Wade benches Garrett and takes over the play-calling duties...

Did you see the new 3 WR set formations the Cowboys brought out, which only opened up passing lanes to attack Romo? Garrett is an idiot...

We can talk about sacks, interceptions great hight lights et... but the bottom line is you win games by scoring more points than the other team.

Our defense has given this team good chance to win most of the games this year. The offense has fail us most of the season.

As I said this defense has some warts but bottom line is it has kept other teams from scoring which is more important than anything else.

Defense - good scheme but unprepared - thats on Wade - how many wide open receivers did San Diego have when it counted?

Offense - Garrett needs to go period

I was not a big fan of bringing in Norv over Wade - I was not exicted about either but I know this - NOrv would have been so good for Tony Romo and Rivera would have done a good job with this D.

But they did hold them to less points than any team all year....so what the hell is your point?

and look at our defense after Ware went down? COME ON, other teams are getting more out of their third string guys and WE cant get anything out of some of our first STRING guys.

Stop with the nonsense and get back to basic football, we got toasted when it counted and coudnt stop them when this defense had to, and some of you love the fact Spencer can touch the QB.

Sacks are not the end all, but i'd like to see SOME.

interceptions are nothing to you fans, yet Jenkins get some, and i bet you people hate it.

The fact is when this defense has to man up, it lays down at all the right times, mainly 3rd and long on defense. GO look that STAT up.

That 3rd and 15 was on Newman and Senabaugh, though the formation was right... The TD on that play was just a brilliant call, where Norv had Gates, probably the best TE in the game, isolated on Sensabaugh from the edge. The defense had to second guess run on that formation.

Sensabaugh had to go to the middle because he had a WR coming right at him. The formation was not right IMO because Sensabaugh had 2 receivers to cover from what I saw.

I agree...in fact I think Rivers could have made an easier throw down the middle had he chosen to.
