Jeffery got his passes when they moved Gilmore , it left open Aggy and Ertz more . ALshon is more a 50/50 guy with Aggy and SMith who have better YAC of course it went to them. you play to the percentages .

No doubt.. pederson adjusted.

My point is that Butler wouldn’t have made any difference. Jeffery’s catches were phenomenal and it’s not like Rowe wasn’t in good position.

Jeffery has 5 inches on Butler and the secondary of Pats with Butler have been gettfun no brutalized all year. Butler isn’t making a difference in all likelihood.

Saying he would downplays Pederson’s brilliant playcalling and Foles reads and accuracy.

Not sure. I think Butler is a good corner, but I think I'd rather go with the youngsters we have with a change. I like the idea of putting Byron Jones and Awuzie as our outside corners. And Jordan as the slot corner. Byron would be the big corner to cover the big receivers. I think we should look at a SS and put Xavier Woods as our FS. But that's just me.

That would work, and I'd be for drafting another S, though, I think Frazier is a good SS and Woods is a good FS.

You're probably right, but Rowe got burned often.
I think losing Cooks early was a bigger blow to NE.

I dont think he would of impacted the game much . The Pats did not punt once . I THink they scored way to fast and it helped wear down Pats D. Eagles won TOP and took much longer drives when going to score too . If anything it might of made the D even more Tired . ROpe a Dope FTW
 
Thing is SB is different, I would
Punish him after the game.
Just 1 int might have changed
The game.
If u get to SB u have to go all out to win.
To me that means playing the best regardless of what rules
They break night before.
After game cut him or whatever.

The gggles didn' run a rope a dope. It was an all out offensive assault. Those long game shortening drives were killer. Think it was a fourth quarter drive that lasted over 7 minutes that was a real tough one to overcome for the Pats. Dodnt leave a lot of time to manuever.
 
Butler had that great Super Bowl pick but he's had hands of stone ever since. The odds he'd produce a game saving pick were minuscule. He basically never showed that ability ever again.

It was a weird decision to bench him all the same, but what killed the Pats were their weak front 7, especially the linebackers. The Eagles passing plays were set up by their ability to completely embarrass the Patriots front 7 with the same simple shotgun run concepts over and over and over again. They were slow, soft, and constantly getting out of position from biting on even the most basic play fakes. Losing Hightower basically made the whole unit implode, it was like watching the Cowboys defense without Sean Lee.

The trick pass to Foles was neat and would probably burn anybody, but 99% of what the Eagles did was their bread and butter plays, and the Patriots front 7 simply couldn't compete. Belichick understood what was going on but his linebackers especially simply couldn't execute.

Yeah, the Pats lack of depth this year was exposed on the biggest stage. Lost too many role players and starters on the defense this season. However, you gotta play with who's on the roster. The eagles can say the same thing, so the injury issue is a non-starter in my book.

The thing we will be left wondering is if Malcolm could have made a difference. He didn't need to make a pick. The one thing the defense desperately needed and only managed once was an "out". Given how badly burned the Pats DBs were, one has to wonder if he could have helped with just one stop.... but we will never know. Butler is not going to be part of the team moving forward. So it really doesn't matter anymore.

I guess the term of the day is "On to 2018".

When Lewis turns out to be our best outside CB, I'm going to laugh at you guys who insist on putting him in the slot due strictly to height. Lewis is the best outside CB on our team. Putting him strictly in the slot would be a major waste of talent.

Lewis is better than Byron at outside CB, and it's not close.

Butler was terrible in the AFC championship game. I saw several film breakdowns online showing how he blew coverage after coverage, running a completely different play than the other 10 guys on the field. I think PFF had Butler rated something like 52nd out of 64 starting corners this past season.

Can't blame a coach for benching an underperforming player. Even if the coach is a cheating scum bag.

Rowe played well, he had tight coverage on the TD he gave up to Jeffrey. Can't cover a guy much better than that. There is no defense against perfect passes, which Foles was delivering all night.
