Maliek and the Whipping Boy

Our fans act like it's their money. Barring injuries Crawford is a very good player.

And that means what exactly? Overpaid is overpaid. And Crawford is, has been, and continues to be grossly overpaid. Accept that fact.

There's a salary cap and every dollar counts.

Well said. Anytime you can dog a QB like that with a three man rush you're doing something right, even if the OL quality was poor. They're going to need this when Green Bay comes up,,, that and some Vaseline on their jerseys to stop the Packers from holding.
Do we really just rush three when playing Aaron Rodgers??? I have to think about that scheme. I think the blueprint for him is keeping him in the pocket when he does his skipping outside he is an assassin on DB's.

Overpaid? You are only as valuable as the money that someone is willing to give you or you earn on your own. Crawford hasn't prevented the cowboys from keeping anyone that they wanted to keep.

Nice post. I agree. Crawford played well. The contract is why some fans don't like him and they probably never will. There's always those 3 or 4 players every year that no matter how good play, They suck. I definitely liked what I seen from him though

And he's not. He's grossly overpaid. It's a bad contract that the Cowboys made with him. He's never lived up to it. Deal with it.

He's kept them from signing players they had interest in - and needed. Olivier Vernon for one.

It's funny that nobody wanted to talk about Crawford the first two weeks of the season. Probably because they couldn't find him.

But now he flashes for one week and everybody's out puffing their chests saying "told ya so!"

The fact is that it was a nice week for him. One out of three. Hopefully, it's a sign of things to come. But he's still not come close to being worth what they're paying him.

Crawford did not have a good game. He had a GREAT GAME!!!

He did. Valid criticisms aside, he had a great game and looked active and disruptive. But it was one out of three and came against John Wetzel, a backup tackle and former practice squad guy here.

Hopefully, it's a good sign of things to come, but we'll see.

I sure don't expect a repeat performance against the Rams and Andrew Whitworth this Sunday.

Does anyone else?

For a minute there I thought the whipping boy was Taco lol.....Crawford with his contract is easy to pick on......he's a solid part of this defensive line rotation.

Being paid like a star...
:(

I do expect a repeat. Listen if this front 4 or 3 can keep playing well and improving it will make everyone on that Dline so much better. How do you say?. Teams will no longer be able to double team a single player on our front.

It will be interesting to see what Dallas does with Crawford and his contract next year. From Spotrac, Lawrence, Irving, Paea and Price from the DL all have contracts that expire next year. That's one starter and three rotational players -- although, Irving has shown the potential to be more than just a rotational player. Looking a little further in the future, D Moore and B Mayowa's contracts expire in 2019. That's potentially 5 DL players, or half of what we carry on the roster today, whose contracts expire in the next two years.

I would argue that Paea, Price, Moore and Mayowa could easily be replace in the draft or through free agency. It would be really nice to keep Lawrence and Irving... if the price is right.

What does this have to do with Crawford and his contract? Crawford's contract runs through 2020 and, injuries notwithstanding, has proven to be a reliable rotation player. I don't see them cutting him next year, but could envision a renegotiated contract a la Brandon Carr.

I love "what if" games. o_O

From Crawford? Against Witworth? You're more optimistic than I am. That guy has been dominant so far this year.

I would love that! I sure hope that it happens.

I think that's a style we used on him last year with some success.

I'm not arguing the contract. He is overpaid. But you're wrong when you say he's had one good game. He had a pretty damn good game against Denver too, primarily at the 3-tech, and mostly against Leary. I counted six times he beat Leary right off the snap. Pressured Siemian a few times, likely gets a sack or two if not for Siemian getting rid of the ball 2-2.5 seconds on most of his passes. He had a couple of nice plays against the run, too.
