Maliek Collins

I'm thinking this young man will be a very valuable piece going forward...Scary to know he is only going to get better.

If Tapper was out there contributing ...this would easily be one of the best drafts ever.

Its probably already is one of the best drafts ever. To find a franchise RB and QB in the same draft, a good starting dt, a contributing CB, and knowing you may have Jaylon Smith is unreal..

My only concern with Crawford going back inside his he might not be able to withstand the pounding he takes inside. Notice how healthy Crawfords been this year playing mostly DE?
We paid a soft dlineman 45 mil (facepalm).

Dak and Zeke are already the greatest rookie duo in NFL history. This draft was epic. If Jaylon Smith can play at a high level next year, and Collins and Brown continue to develop, it will be downright biblical.

What we and the entire country are witnessing is beautiful.

When you have Cowboy haters coming to you at work talking good about the Cowboys....you know we have everyone's attention.

I work with a diehard Texan's fan who hates the cowboys with a passion ...he said to me a couple weeks ago that he wished like hell we had Dak.

I really like Collins and have high hopes for him. And that's after getting swept up in mock draft fever and thinking "who????" incredulously when he was drafted.

Why don't we just go full 2000 draft mode, and draft 3 DEs like we drafted 3 DBs then in the same draft.

Cause it doesn't make sense. We have more needs than just DE, and the draft is for the best player available, not need.

We need to sign a DE in free agency. If we can get a good one in the draft, great. But history isn't on the side of a great performance from a rookie DE, we need a veteran to fill the role, and let the draft be for the future, not the immediate present.

Drafting for need has been the single main reason for our draft disasters of the past. Mess up the next draft, and this 2016 draft doesn't look as good anymore.

Negative

he is developing a spin move the last few weeks that is going to further his development as a legit pass rusher.

His spin move has seemed to be somewhat ineffective to me.

Dude, we have two rookies vying for MVP of the league. This is easily one of the best drafts ever.

If Tapper and smith can comeback strong from their injuries this draft will go down as an all time great for any team.

Three Hall of Famers for the Steelers in a single draft?

D-Law has developed a spin move similar to Freeney that is suiting him just righteous ..He indeed is doing well.

Speaking of Freeney isn't he still available? If so what is the Dallas FO waiting for?

Yep -- I realize how many here are skeptical of his upside to transform himself appreciably but he progressed physically by leaps and bounds from his 1st year to the 2nd. He's also making steady progress now in the number of his tackles and pass rush pressures. I think it's just a matter of time before he's getting significant sacks, rather than predominantly pressures.

I, for one, haven't given up on him by a longshot. He's had his roadblocks to overcome but his progress is quite noticeable to those of us with any inclination to be patient. Incidentally, I do seem to recall someone saying "it's a process." ;)

You apparently weren't that swept up in mock draft fever if you didn't know who Maliek Collins was.

Trouble is the 2000 draft thingy didn't work (well) either. The first two guys crapped out quickly and it was the later guy who later provided some value but not a lot.

I've not seen a lot of cases where "saturation" drafts work.

I think it still goes back to the "winning" formula of getting the most value you can out of each pick. And the Cowboys did that this past draft... And there shouldn't be any quibbling wit the results.

You've got several positions that will/need attention DE, CB, S, WR, LB, OG, OT.

I say you pick the highest value guy you can get in each round and if the first 3 draft picks are a WR, CB, DE, then so be it.

That being said I'm sure you're going to see at least 1 DE drafted and a middle-of-the-road free-agent DE picked up... Though not high enough to blow the compensatory pick the team will get for Leary.
