Any chance he ends up in SF?

It's possible. He could end up anywhere that needs a QB. I know Gruden likes him and by and large, he's played very well the past two years. I'd be very surprised if we don't get a long term deal done. Shanahan also is a big Cousins supporter, so if the Skins somehow can't get a deal done AND don't tag him, that's the first place I'd think he ends up.

If its known he's not able to win in the clutch...

Again, you are using silly childish arguments. It was known that Matt Ryan couldn't win in the clutch, until he did. He was 0-3 in the playoffs and did not finally win one game until his 5th season. But then he lost the very next week, and did not return to the playoffs again until this year. Did that mean he was worth the vet minimum plus incentives? Maybe slightly more since Cousins just finished his first season and is 0-1? Of course not, starters in the NFL don't make the veteran minimum, especially QBs, unless they are extremely unproven.

And while Cousins has not shown that he is an elite QB, he has shown that he's a starting QB in the range of $20-$23 million or so. At this point if you disagree, then the best thing by far is to let him walk. Trade him if you can, but if it is known that he "can't win in the clutch," he's really just a progress stopper. A guy who will win you enough games that you aren't in a position to draft a top QB but can't take you on a deep playoff run.

I know what you're saying man. The FO needs to make a decision and stick with it. I'll be furious if we franchise him yet again.

You don't think its greedy ** to be asking for 20-23 million per season when he knows we need other defensive FAs to come here to get the Lombardi?

Unfortunately cousins holds all the cards here. It's also not going to help with him being bitter (from my understanding) with management. Washington has to fall in line or you guys will be looking for another quarterback. It's really that simple.

Don't get me wrong, Washington doing their best Texans impression would be gold.

no, because that's how much starting QBs who throw for 4000+ yards get. and every year that number goes up, last year he could have been signed for less, maybe for the $18 that Brock Osweiler got, but now that isn't happening.

Honor, Loyalty, Sacrifice are important to see in players. Not greed.

Wrong. This is a business. All players look out for themselves because they are all contracted employees. The only guarantee is that they are all expendable at some point.

Would you make sacrifices of your salary or responsibilities to help your employer (assuming you are employed) because of honor and loyalty? Would you fire yourself from a job if it would help the company's bottom line? Serious question.

No, but I'm not making enough money in a year to last me the rest of my life, like these guys are.

You're making the assumption that all players are educated enough to save/invest wisely. There are non athletes who don't even do that.

More than likely, most if not all players grew up poor and football (or sports in general) was their ticket out. I'm sure they would say that they have sacrificed enough. I know I would.

I think Washington is a good landing spot. Nothing is certain with cousins at the moment and manziel already deleted twitter. As much as it hurts me to admit, manziel is probably better than colt McCoy.
No team will touch the guy. In addition to his previous troubles, he still faces a suspension for domestic violence should someone sign him. Any team that would sign him would be picking up a PR nightmare/media circus. He would relegate the worst Trump tweets to the back page of the newspaper. Also, the more time that passes with him not playing, the more difficult it will be to get back into the game and it's not like he was playing well before he dropped by the wayside. Manzeil will never play in the NFL again, IMO. He will be a footnote in the game's history. He comes from a well-to-do family, so money is not a motivator for him. Apparently, the game itself isn't a motivator, either. He's done. You will see/hear his name less and less over time. All that said, desperate teams do desperate things...I guess I should never say never...but he's as close to never as they come, IMO.

I do realize it and it's a moot point. They were the Washington Commanders then and they are still the Washington Commanders now.

Just becaue Tex Schramm is no longer the GM for the Cowboys and Jerry Jones is doesn't mean Stubach, Dorset, or tom Landry are invalided as being part of the org. Same thing applies to troubled players past and present for the Cowboys as well as the Commanders.

You do realize the guy who made that move hasn't worked in their front office for eight years, right?
