Surprise or not surprised Manziel gets the nod this week per ESPN

I hope he plays well and gives that city some hope.

Growing up between Buffalo and Cleveland, the passion people have for those teams while being beat down is truly amazing.

The Browns' WRs had a ton of crucial drops last week. I feel somewhat bad for Hoyer.
But really, he has had a rough go of it for 3-4 weeks now and his ceiling doesn't seem super high.
I see why they'd not want to go through the whole season without getting a decent look at their 1st round pick....and I suspect Manziel will give them a spark being at home vs their rival.
I bet the atmosphere is electric in Cleveland this week.

Once he was drafted Hoyer was on borrowed time. The Browns have gone through more starting QB's the past 2 decades than just about anyone. I'll be surprised if Manziel pans out in Cleveland he's battling some long odds with that team.

I haven't been following Cleveland, but why are they plugging in a rookie when they're a game out of the playoffs with 3 games to go? Seems like something you'd do when your season is over.

No idea how the long term will turn out.
But we've seen several times recently that in the short term, a player with Manziel's qualities can give defenses some headaches.

I think that was their reasoning last week...plus the players in the locker room love Hoyer.
But after a nice start, he's really been slumping.
Once they lost last week, the writing was on the wall.

They need an offensive spark... hoyer has been miserable recently.

Their season is over because of Hoyer. He has been horrible lately. They have scored once in their last 29 possessions. You have to move on and see what you have in Manziel.

Yeah, I think the Browns just don't think Hoyer can get the job done. This late in the season, one would think it is a desperation move more than anything else. It was just a few weeks ago they were talking about signing Hoyer to a big contract, but he probably has played his way out of it.

Hoyer has been pretty bad, and a turnover machine. That's why! Why not put your chips in and roll the dice on a 1st round QB?

They already know what they have in Hoyer, and it does not look like it will be getting any better with a backup QB.

I hope Manziel has a bad debut. Nothing against him, even though never been a fan of him. But I do like the Bengals, and want them to win.
Then the following week, he can play good, maybe.

Hoyer has been awful the past few weeks. He has something like a 1 - 8 TD/INT ratio.

You know what you have in Hoyer: a sucky QB. Roll the dice with Johnny and see what happens.
