Anyone watch the Cleveland Browns scrimmage?...Johnny actually looked a bit more like an NFL quarterback out there and by all accounts had a successful outing; no more happy feet, appeared composed in the pocket and took time to make his reads, made some accurate throws into tight coverage, etc.. I was pretty surprised, granted it was just a scrimmage, but he atleast showed some potential to be a semi competent quarterback in the league. Kinda wondering if Jerrah should've drafted him afterall,...I by no means consider myself to be an evaluator of qb talent but he did pass the eye test for me. Curious to hear what others have to say.

Even if he is a semicapable NFL QB the odds are against him in Cleveland. They have had so many players bust hard it's astounding. Remember in 2013 when Weeden was throwing to Gordon and handing off to Richardson?

Well, when you draft CB Justin Gilbert with the 6th pick and follow it up with Manziel later in the 1st, you don't have much of a chance to succeed. I would guess Cleveland will be drafting top ten again for a while.

Yep. They hit on Gordon from a talent perspective, but he doesn't have it upstairs to stay out of trouble

Temporary loss of sanity with the drafting Manziel thoughts; chill guys, happens to the best of us... I was just a bit taken back by his performance yesterday considering the expectations I had of him after last year, it "seems" that a switch has finally flipped in his brain and he realizes that his prima donna persona isn't going to cut it any more.

I'll admit being surprised when I flipped NFLN on and saw JF making some nice throws. But there is a big difference between practice throws before the first preseason game and actual real NFL games. It's going to take a lot and I mean A LOT to convince Cowboy fans we should have taken him instead of Martin.

I wish Jerry would trade for Johnny Football. The price should be low and he can't be worse than Weeden.

The Rowdy avatar tells me all I need to know.

Psh!...been lurking here since 2004 friend; by all intents and purposes that establishes me as an esteemed and valuable commodity to these here forums, show some respect to your elders.

Real talk though, I rarely if ever post so I haven't felt much incentive to change my profile pic, nor have I found one that is suitable to my liking yet, nor do I follow football as stringently as I used to when I was younger, which is why I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm misinformed on alot of topics and instead rely on "experts" such as yourself to keep me in the loop. If you're going to pick apart my post and single out a single phrase to grill me with regarding my pondering of drafting Manziel, atleast have the common courtesy to read the rest of the thread and acknowledge that I have come to terms with the insanity of such a proposition and retracted my original statement.

I can't envision the Browns wanting to part with Manziel at this point just yet, their fans no longer hate him as much after last weeks performance and are even quite giddy at their future 'prospect', and the organization as a whole was quite pleased with his performance; as long as he has potential in their eyes to develop into a competent qb it's hard for me to imagine why they would wish to part ways with him, but the Browns have a fine way of ruining any qb talent on their roster, would be nice to see how he might develop in the Cowboy's system..

What's the alternative? McCown?

After what the Browns have invested in JF, they almost have to keep him long enough for him to prove he is either a boom or bust.

Either way, it continues to suck being a Browns fan. Please just find a way to beat the Stealers once this season.

He either grows up & we see if he can play in the NFL or he goes home to Texas & lives off his trust fund.

Either or...
