you say you didn't have a dog in the race but complain about Louisville fouling? Wasn't it about 13 fouls to 5 in Michigan's favor till they started fouling on purpose?
The reason I said I didn't have a dog in the fight is because I didn't have a dog in the fight. LOL, for thinking I would have a reason to lie about it. I was born and lived in Maryland for the first 45 years of my life and I'm a big time Terp fan. Have been since the early 70's when MD had the likes of John Lucas, Tom McMillan and Len Elmore playing for them.
I had no idea what the exact foul discrepancy was at the time nor does it matter. I know Louisville had some bad calls/non calls go against them. My bigger point was that the officiating in college hoops is atrocious, right down the line. This Louisville team reminds me a little of Duke but even more like the Georgetown teams of the 80's. When they set up the press, the guards are allowed to get away with fouling constantly. It's almost as if Petino and coach K (among others) decide on this strategy because they know the refs aren't going call them all and start disqualifying players in the 1st half. Therefore it becomes the norm and it makes for ugly basketball.
All I really wanted to see was an exciting game, which was exactly what we were treated to and fortunately for the refs, that more than overshadowed what was a horribly officiated basketball game. It was really cool to see Louisville win the title given the awful situation with Kevin Ware.
