Marcus Trufant is better than Newman now?...*Trufant agrees to 6 yr 50m extension*

Truffant finally played well this year. However, he is not as good as TNew because he gives up too many plays trying for Picks. NO one, not even Champ, when they gamble, will make more plays then they give up. BSPN highlights to the contrary. Give me a player like TNew who NEVER tries to gamble to get a pick over anyone else. He is more reliable and will not hurt you like the gamblers WILL.

When both these players were coming out, I thought that Trufant was the better value. I had them graded very closely with Newman having a very slight edge in over all athleticisam. I thought that Trufant's technique was better. Today, I have to say that they are still very close IMO. I would pick Newman over Trufant now because I think that Newman has had time to improve on his technique. However, I don't think you can go wrong with either player. Both have proven to be very good CBs in the NFL, IMO.

I believe most scouts had them about equal coming out of college. Some had New rated higher some had Trufant rated higher. New PR skills had him higher on most boards.


As far as whose better? I think you wouldnt go wrong with either. I just dont see how we can sign New to that big of a contract. We still working on Barber. We're gonna have to TO more moner. Ware is gonna get a fat contract and we still have to decide on Ham. I still see us letting him walk next year.

If you look at Newman's contract based on guaranteed money he is one of the hightest paid if not the highest. He signed a 7 year/35 million contract and he will receive most of if not all of that money. These guys signing now are getting 20-30 million guaranteed their total # amount seems high but they'll never get it
