That's Spencer's career sack line when he's been healthy. People around here assume he's the 11 sack guy and boy just wait until he comes back. If he can be healthy, look out. But more evidence points to a 5 or 6 sacks guy which makes him a very marginal pressure player on a defense and a terrible first option pressure player.

Then you add in the injury.

Honestly, I don't even care that he's back. That's how little I expect.

I completely understand your argument and your stance. However, this DL was constructed knowing they didn't have a double digit sack guy and wanted to come in waves. That would be similar to the Seahawks approach with less talent. That said, if he is even the 5 or 6 sack guy that will help this anemic pass rush. If Mincey and Lawrence can give you 5 or 6 as well or even 5 or 6 combined, that equals double digits from the WDE. I'll take it. Selvie and Crawford combining for 8 or more would be helpful as well. If that starts to work, maybe Melton (if he gets healthy) can actually start to make plays in the middle since the edges would be pseudo productive.

Not the New York Sack Exchange but it would help.

I'll never forget when Greg Ellis came back after his injury and had some of the best seasons of his career.

I hope Spencer does the same.

For some reason though I felt like Ellis might have taken some Vitamin S to help his recovery.

True, but remember, he was the strong side DE, less pass rushing opportunities. He never had the pass rushing chances that Ware did and I am not saying he should have. We just need to remember the circumstances when we are considering the numbers. I would think 6-8 sacks from a SDE in a 3-4 is pretty good.

Also being a full time player and a specialist might make the difference. Chances are, he is going to be in solely on pass rushing downs... so he just might have a chance to make more of an impact than you think.

Crawford has been a little disappointing to me. I know he's coming off the injury but, I guess after hearing Hatch last year and Romo this year, I expected to see what they were seeing at practice show up in games. Hope he turns a corner and Dallas gets some reward from the 3rd round pick invested in him.

Where this helps the team the most is moving Crawford to the 3 tech.

So Crawford hasn't been taking any snaps as a DT this year? I was under the impression from this offseason that would be his spot he'd play this year. Interesting he hasn't yet. Intrigued to see what he does in that role.

It sure seemed like Kiffin and Marinelli were high on Spencer in this defense. I'm looking forward to seeing how he finally plays. Also like the idea of Crawford inside at the 3.

crawford inside then who is the other starting DE? or has selvie always started? Crawford might be better inside anyways. Might hurt vs the run but better vs the pass.

Pressuring the qb is more than sack totals though. We need pressure. We need the ball to come out of the qb's hands faster than it has been. I don't know what his hurries stats are like but that would be more of a indication of his pass rusher than sacks. What if he and Ware got pressure on the qb at the same time and Ware got the sack?

It would be nice if Spencer can round into form going into the NFC East games. We need all the help we can get on that D-line.

You also have to mention those sacks came playing next to healthy DWare, Spencer, and Rat. I don't know why some people here think he is going to be this sack master when he comes back.

Sadly though he probably is still better than anyone we got right now if he's 100% .

I think I've got the vapors...

You actually looked up and posted real statistics to back up your argument?

Love Crawford inside. He can either be a relatively slow DE or a very quick DT. He fits the defense more inside on passing downs.

Althogh Spencer does not have sacks he was good at pressures, tfl and fumbles. Remember almost Anthony? Right now we need all the bodies we can get.
