Like the Chargers, the Saints offense gets the ball out quickly so unless they can just get outstanding coverage or design some blitzes the Brees doesn't read I doubt if they'll have too many sacks.

True hard to get to the QB with the short passes however seen it often he will get balls tip at the line of scrimmage, guys have to get in his face and get their hands up

This is awesome, but I hope Spencer can just cut loose and forget about the knee. That might take time.

10-15 snaps would be good, preferably on pass-rush downs.

I know one thing .... I'm jonesing for some McLovin. He better be back on the field next week. They've held him out long enough. He has to play so our team can build chemistry on the field. He needs to get in the mix when we start to play these rivalry games. We need all soldiers reporting for duty.

Althogh Spencer does not have sacks he was good at pressures, tfl and fumbles. Remember almost Anthony? Right now we need all the bodies we can get.

^^Exactly. Remember why he was called Almost Anthony?? Because for 3-4 years, he would consistently get to the quarterback while somehow managing to miss out on the sacks to the point where i was literally shocked when he finally broke out and got double-digit sacks. That being said, the dude was a consistent pest that opposing QB's had to deal with even without the sacks. Some could even say that Spencer's consistent pressure was a large reason why D-Ware recorded all those sacks and, IMO, If Almost Anthony can be anything close to THAT guy, this defense has nowhere to go BUT up...

Spencer coming back is nice, but I'm supremely excited about seeing Crawford at the 3.

This may be a decent combination. Hope it is anyway. As long as Spencer looks decent, it will take a bit of time to completely knock off the rust. Just let him play solid, show signs that he is healthy in his limited snaps.

Totally agree. I don't expect Spencer to cause much havoc, I just want him to have productive snaps.

Personally I think Spencer simply playing again is a big deal.

How many "experts" here proclaimed – "Oh Spencer will never play again in the NFL."

I know it was a lot of them.

I thought he had the tools to be a pretty solid strongside DE, but it looks like in this particular scheme he's probably better suited for the inside.

If he were a notch faster then I would agree with you. He just doesn't have the burst to be an exceptional pass rusher as a 4-3 DE.

Spencer, please be healthy enough to put real pressure on the quarterback.

Don't forget Spencer is a strong run defender and we can still use some of that.

That's Spencer's career sack line when he's been healthy. People around here assume he's the 11 sack guy and boy just wait until he comes back. If he can be healthy, look out. But more evidence points to a 5 or 6 sacks guy which makes him a very marginal pressure player on a defense and a terrible first option pressure player.

Then you add in the injury.

Honestly, I don't even care that he's back. That's how little I expect.

Those are good numbers for a SDE after year one. Those are not marginal numbers esp not in the schemes he's played in. If people are expecting WDE #s then think again.

Those are Israel Idonije's sack numbers. the ones with an asterisk are the years Rod used him as a starter

Lawrence should be back in 2 more weeks then Brent another 6?

Is Brent currently serving his suspension? I probably missed where he was signed I always thought the player had to be signed to a team to serve suspension.
