The NFL has a long game? Well, how about that. We might be the first team to pioneer an NFL team like college to stockpile injury and suspension talent for down the road.

I am so excited to see how that turns out!

It does,,, you've been hiding under a rock I take it. You know that Pittsburgh rarely ever starts a rookie and some people actually believe that building through the draft provides superior depth and superior teams overall? We wouldn't be pioneering anything in that respect.

If you think Pittsburgh is anything like this, you are wrong. It is not about starting rookies.

And call me crazy, to call a player "depth" it helps to have someone in front of them to strive to compete against.

Oh, you mean a player with superior talent and skills,,, like Jaylon Smith who won't be playing this year? So you think that teams don't plan past the current season,,, interesting.

Regarding Hardy. I liked this guy. He has, what the club has missed defensively for years, a mean streak. Like him or not...the Cowboys will miss his toughness. I would take one Hardy before l would suffer three fairies like Garrett.

I'm disappointed that all sides - Hardy and Garrett included - couldn't work things out. It would have benefitted all of them.

No. Jaylon Smith won't likely be playing this year and honestly nobody can say for certain he ever will get back to form.

Amazing how this redshirt plan has failed over and over again with this franchise and nobody sees that it is a bad model. Especially with pathological optimists in charge.

And teams do plan. But they usually hit a baseline of sustained success before embarking on that journey.

Like haleyrules said, the defense is the stepchild. It gets all the leftovers and hand me downs. The offense gets all the number #1 picks. All the big money. All the glory. Why didnt we make an Oline filled with practice squad guys? No... We spent like 3 1st rd picks and collins who should have been a first rd pick. Can you imagine a D line w 3-4 first rd picks? Hey id be happy with 2 first rd picks.

But its too late this season and i dont wanna come off too negative. Go cowboys! Beat the bears!

Oh, so all this crying over the Jaylon Smith pick? Jerry does seem to have a strategy of going after a high risk/reward player each year like Dez, Sean Lee, Randy Gregory, Bruce Carter, etc. Doesn't seem excessive to me considering all the other draft picks they bring in every year and the fact that they occasionally pay off. The long game, yes, teams do have one, thanks for noticing.

Really? He is batting .300 at best with the four best examples you can muster.

I guess we are using baseball grading on a curve.
