Marion Barber=Troy Hambrick

That's a VERY broad statement there, and I don't recall that at all. There seemed to be more Emmitt hangeronners than anything, and most of them used Hambrick's bloated 5.1 yard avg (see 85 yard TD run) as an abberation.

Huge argument that if you took his big run away he wasn't that much better than Emmitt's avg.

At the time Emmitt was in obvious decline and everytime Hambrick came in to spell him he made plays much like Barber did when he spelled Julius. Hambrick was fresh and would break off one nice gain after another. Everyone in Cowboys nation wanted to see what Hambrick could do as the starter. It was the same thing with Barber we all wanted to see what he could do as the starter because he was so good coming off the bench. I remember when the Cowboys finally announced Barber was going to be the starter people like Micky Spagnola started questioning whether Barber would be as effective as a starter. Even he brought up the Hambrick comparison saying how good Hambrick was as a backup and how disappointing he was as the starter. Both backs were effective as backups because they were kept fresh throughout games but once they started receiving a heavier workload they weren't as effective.

If you meant that Barber is starting to resemble Hambrick with his play right now, thats whats you should have made the title say...*****.

These threads are what make me appreciate someone who comes back and realizes and admits the error in their statements, or that they might have not used the right words to do it.

But you talk about your house - so **** you, and you might feel comfortable in your life but if you are this hardheaded your friends must hate hanging out with you, much less your significant other.

It seems Barber was at the top of his game real fast after college and then shortly after fell off. It doesnt seem like his run lasted that long. Oh well a Power running back like that rarely does in todays NFL.

He fell off because he became the starter. He was an effective backup in college and an outstanding backup with the Cowboys but once he became the starter and his workload increased his body has begun to breakdown. He stayed healthy all through his tenure as the backup. As soon as he became the starter he injured his ribs early in the 08 season and then injured his pinky toe which rendered him useless the final month of the season. He injured his quad with no contact because it appeared he began to stumble and he hasn't looked good since that injury. His only 100 yard game of the season came just before that injury. He's not able to shake off these injures which is a sign of an aging back who's body is breaking down. Everyone knew his running style wasn't conducive to longevity. Both Dorsett and Emmitt expressed concern over Barbers aggressive seek out punishment running style. It's clear his rockem sockem billy goat seek and destroy style has caught up with him. He goes down much easier now and doesn't have near the leg drive he use to.

The thread title spoke for itself "Marion Barber=Troy Hambrick". Obviously I'm referring to "RIGHT NOW". Have you seen him play lately? LOL All anyone has to do is read my first post to see that I'm talking about right now. :) This is the first time I've ever made the comparison between Barber and Hambrick because Barber didn't come remotely close to resembling Hambrick 2 years ago. Barbers game has dropped dramatically from where he was 2 years ago. He was a Pro Bowler 2 years ago and now most Cowboys fans who begged for him to be the starter a couple of years ago are begging for him to returned to the role he had.

but of course you need the "flip" side to help illustrate why we appreciate honesty.

thanks KJJ. without people like you the cool people would be a lot harder to spot.
