It has a lot to do with each person's personality. The more emotional fans (those that have the high highs and the low lows) are probably the fans that let the media get to them most. I'm admittedly one of them. On the other hand, when I calm down, I know that a lot of what they have to say is contrived and served up for ratings purposes and that they don't really know any more about what's going to happen than the average educated fan. There is a lot of logic to the term "embrace the hatred".

This is a really good explanation. I'm also one of those fans with the high highs and low lows. I wish I wasn't, but I often find myself cursing at the TV screen when people like Joe Buck or Phil Simms utter some disguised insult to the organization:laugh2: . But at the end of the day, I'm just like you - I know it's all about opinion and ratings and I eventually embrace the hate.

It's the unprofessionalism that gets to me. Like a lot of others, I have stopped partaking of most of those shows. I just can't stand the idea that networks allow some of the commentary and "analysis" that they do. It's an insult to one's intelligence. I watch on occasion, but I'm always reminded of why I stopped watching in the first place.

Unprofessionalism, Cowboys bias, poor analysis...call it what you will. It simply doesn't mean squat to me. I don't take it personally like many do.

Are (you) these same peope as critical about analysts/commentators when it comes to non-Cowboy events? Non sporting events? News media? I seriously doubt it. It's all about taking things personally and when it comes to taking things personally re: the Cowboys, I could care less. It's a non-issue.

Like someone else said, these guys get paid to say dumb things.

Why would you expect professionalism from complete amateurs who had no training or experience in broadcasting before they were given the job?

Faulk is just an ex pro athlete given the job of broadcaster because of his highly recognizable name.

Just look at him (them) for what they are. Shining, glittering objects meant to attract the school to the bait.

I am a fan of the Boston Bruins and hang out on a Bruins board also. They have a thread dedicated to the Pats that gets activity every week.

Many of you may be surprised to hear that the vast majority of Pat's fans posting there are convinced that ESPN and most of it's "reporters" are biased against the Pats!!!

I kid you not.

How is that possible? ESPN has a few team that it practically drools over - the Patriots and Colts are the top two.

I don't feel he hates the Cowboys. I remember 2 years ago, I think SB post game on NFLN when the Giants won. "Experts" were asked who would win it the next season "08" and Faulk said the Dallas Cowboys will straighten things out and win it all and TO will be crying of joy instead for a loss and defending his QB.
After what happened last season I think he decided not to trust the Cowboys untill they when a playoff or SB

Well, I've dropped out of that school. I can't stand these pre-game shows and if I could get the Cowboys radio broadcast, I would listen to it instead of the television.

This is really nothing new, but he has reached a new low today. Every chance he gets, he jumps on Irvin about the Cowboys. His last comment really rubbed me the wrong way.

Irvin was asked about who the most vulnerable team is in the NFC Playoffs. Irvin responded by saying it is the Saints.

Faulk then scoffed and said, "it is the team that hasn't won in the playoffs since you were playing."

Irvin kinda looked at Faulk funny, and someone else on the panel said, "well, he's just answering the queston."

Faulk also said that Dallas hasn't beaten anybody yet, and today is the test. The same thing he said last week, and the week before that.

The plug needs to be pulled on this *** clown.

people need to quit getting worked up over what some media-homer says.

I am forever perplexed at the number of folks who get riled up over analysts' opinions. Who gives a ****.

I am like Hos insofar as I "embrace the hate".

This one.

I think people wouldn't mind the analysts opinions if they were based on sound reasoning, and logic.

I don't think all analysts are mediots. I actually like quite a few of them. I like Marshall Faulk, the RB, but he lost me on his opinions when it comes to certain things.

If one says, "I think the Eagles can beat the Cowboys because I feel the Eagles receivers are playing at a higher level than the Cowboys DBs"

That makes sense to me.

Somebody on the NFLN panel (I think Sapp) said that the Eagles have more experience with big games than the Cowboys. Even that makes sense.

I think when analysts trot out the tired "They haven't a playoff game in forever" reason, then I just shake my head.

To me that has nothing to do with the game itself and it's a fallback saying when you can't think of anything else.

Pretty simple. We win a few Superbowls and it stops. Well probably not stops, but at least they look a little dumber when they say stuff like this.
