They must of changed that recently as in the past players who held out, usually got their fines waived when they signed their extension.

2020 CBA.

50k a day for veterans / 4 years experience. Teams can't waive.
40k a day for rookies / less than 4 years experience. There's no clause for rookies that the fine is mandatory/articles have stated that could be waived.

For the avoidance of doubt, any such fines shall be mandatory, and shall not be reduced in amount or waived by the Club, in whole or in part, but must be paid by the player or deducted by the Club as provided in Section 5(b) of this Article. Section 5(b)
A fine under Subsections 1(b)(vi)-(ix) may be deducted from any payments owed to a player under any NFL Player Contract with the Club, or from any salary, bonus installments, Performance-Based Pay, Postseason Pay, Severance Pay or Termination Pay otherwise owed by the Club. That's fine.

Then Jerry calls American Express and gives them a $500K discount on their advertisement expenses for this year, and Martin is paid $500K by American Express for a night of signing autographs.

Easy to essentially wash that money and get it back to him.

Millionaire's just don't worry about money like regular people do. He'll get back his lost money in no time.

Martin is not stupid he knows that playing for 2 more years at his current rate of decline is going to cost him big time. Dude is almost 33. By the end of his deal he will be 35 and will not command what he can now. He needs to sign his last big deal now and he needs to make it a big one with lots of guarantees so he can sit back on his rich fat behind and coast into early retirement. Jerry is having none of it because of how badly Zeke punked him. Jerry is predictable in one way he is ruled by his childish emotions. Fortunately for us it is working out as a positive in this instance as many times it works out negatively. Imagine having a true professional run the team with logic and reason. Sure would be nice.

I just saw a thing on Twitter that edoga got carted off the field so I wonder if that will increase the pressure to get Martin back in.

Teams cannot pay off the fine money but if they give him a $5 million dollar raise when he only wants four it would cover the expenses

Jerry will take care of Martin's fines once he returns to the team. Martin is laying the groundwork for other players to hold Jerry hostage regarding contracts.
