MartyB Fined $22k for Rap Video

It seems to me that Jerry is trying to correct a prior mistake.

Not the first time I've seen it, and probably won't be the last.

'Marty B's' mistake was screwing up at the worst possible time.

But hopefully it's a lesson he learns from and moves on.

I'll chalk it up to an innocent mistake made by a 21 year old kid still learning about life in the NFL.

Exactly. We are in recovery mode right now, trying to shed all thinga negative and replace them with all thing positive. Then we get this. Bad timing. This guy needs someone to get his head right, or he will turn into another Kellen Winslow Jr. Never live up to his abilities.

Personally, I hate Rap music. But if he did a Country, Rock and Roll, or Opera song with the helmet and the same language, then I'd be saying the same thing. Fine away....

I don't think he would have been fined if it was Country or Opera.

It's certainly a contradiction, no question about that.

But the thing about it is that when you're the owner, it's your decision to make.

Good, bad, or indifferent, it's Jerry Jones' decision to make regarding the image of the team he owns.

Call it the Michael Irvin/Randy Moss effect all over again. It's not so much about protecting the image as it is cleaning up the image. You do that by waiving Pacman, letting Tank walk, and fining Martellus.

I do believe that Spencer will be dealt with by the league. However, I do think he should've issued an apology, same as Bennett.

I think this has a lot to do with the fact that he did it with a Cowboys helmet on. Desecration of the uniform and what not.

According to some, Jerry Jones is "letting" the NFL handle things.

Which is contrary to how he acted when Adam Jones had the altercation with his bodyguard which resulted in an NFL Suspesion.

That is highly speculative and unsubstantiated on your part. Jones is not in a position to let or unlet NFL leadership or policy. Why would Jones willingly jeopardize his NFL committee member status for the benefit of one troubled cornerback. Take a deep breath and drink a little less sake?

During the PacMan altercation Jones interfaced with Goodell or vice versa and Goodell opted to give PacMan yet another chance if he underwent alcohol rehab and behaved befitting a professional NFL player.

Jones in concert with the NFL generated or applied this fine based on the visibility of this misguided highly inappropriate video by Martellus Bennett. I am sure this was done within the guidelines of the players unions collective bargaining agreement fine guidelines.

I guess what irks me is why you are qualifying, conditioning or casting a PacMan shadow on this action Jerry Jones took particularly since it is firm, decisive and positive.

At 21, he should know better.

Given how he lazed his way through training camp, I don't give him the benefit of the doubt. I suspect this kid's attitude will hinder him his whole career. Hope I'm wrong.

Contrary to popular belief, just like me, you are stating "opinions" and not facts.

Not once did I state that Adam Jones should have been suspended. What I stated is that "if" the league hadn't stepped in, Adam Jones wouldn't have received a punishment, Jerry Jones himself stated that.

And yet MB gets a $20,000 fine?

You both are right -- Jerry was right in that situation to wait for the league, especially knowing that the league would act quickly and the additional motivation of the draft pick issue. However, he should never have said anything other than "we are working with the league to investigate the issue"
