Mass Effect 3: New Ending Incoming

My son a few weeks ago was reading a book series on his Kindle and came to me that night all upset. He said he didn't want to keep reading the series anymore. He was clearly bothered, so I asked him why. He told me that they had killed off the main character and he had grown to to enjoy the character so much that he was mad and didn't want to finish it. We sat and talked about this for about an hour and I ended up asking him to give it a chance and continue reading. He later came to me and informed me that he appreciated the talk and the advice and he would be finishing the series.

The attachment hurts and seeing characters die or respond in a certain way or endings to take place that we don't agree with, can really bother some of us.

Tell him to never read George R. R. Martin.

they are still not saying their plan entirely, i think this was all part of their original plan. Another theory is that they really did just jack up the ending after the script leaked back in november

You guys play this game 5 times through. Are you going to actually play it again just for a slightly different ending?

Games of this type I never play through more than once. The only games I played through more than once were games like Super Mario Bros, Shinobi, Rastan, etc. Side scrolling games.

I'll play it once as a Paragon and once as a Renegade.

I finished it last night. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be though it was still a terrible ending.

It's really not a long game to complete. I think I finished it in about 30 hrs of play time over a couple of weeks.

I went totally Paragon with this run through. It might be fun to go back and do it all over again as scar face. :laugh1:

I, too, got the game on opening night, took my time, enjoyed the ride, and finished the game about a week ago. I chose the "destroy" option and had built my war assets up to 7300 with 100% galactic readiness. I had heard people were upset with the ending, but I was okay with it. It was only to find out that I actually had the same thoughts about the ending as it happened as those that created the indoctrination theory.

Anyone that is upset about the ending must watch both of these things. I believe it will make you feel a lot better.

I don't think this is what Bioware planned at all cause if it was you never actually finished the game or worse yet you failed miserably. The extended cut is going to explain how certain members got back on board the ship and stuff in time to run away, they really wouldn't bother explaining all that if it's all just in your head.

Yes, it's obvious the video has sounds edited in at different times, but that is to remind you of things that had happened before. He has Harbinger doing voice over in areas where he obviously didn't talk. In fact, Harbinger didn't have any speaking role in ME3, period.

But you're using that little fact about sound editing to discount everything the video had to say.

The questions at the end of the video do, in fact, have to be answered if you are an opponent to the indoctrination theory. Have you taken into account the thought that the DLC will simply explain the ending more and clarify that Shepard was in the process of being indoctrinated?

It's a good video and he's put a lot of work into it but at the end of the day it's not 100% accurate he's done some editing to make it fit and that doesn't exactly strengthen the theory

I saw this video a few weeks back and replayed the game to see if some of these little hints where there and they either where not or they had been presented in a way in that video that doesn't really fit with how they where in the game.


Reality is that EA are not very flexible with release dates and rumors are the original ending was leaked a few months prior to launch and they had to put something else together in limited time. This would explain why the ending is so damn sloppy. BW is more or less admitting to this by giving inn to nerdrage and expanding on it, they wouldn't do that if they felt it was good.

The leaked script contained the ending that we got in the game. Look it up. Drew Karpahyn was the original writer for Mass Effect and he had a different ending in mind involving dark energy, but he left halfway through ME2 to work on Star Wars The Old Republic. The script that was leaked had the ending that we received. There were other aspects of the script that didn't make it, like retaking Omega, but the ending was not changed.

The reaper growls at the end being specifically bad as it "proves" his theory only it's not there in the game. Something he points early in the game as a sign of indoctrination failing then again as a key part to proving his theory is NOT there at the end. Even when you make exactly the same choices, have 100% readiness and 7k war assents. He had to twist reality a little bit...

The prothean AI saying "Indoctrinated presence detected" is when Kei Leng shows up after it has talking to Shepard for a good 5 min.
The video tries to sell it as the AI reacting to Shepard which it doesn't it's more then happy to talk to him/her until Kai Leng shows up

The places where reality doesn't fit his theory he changes reality to make it fit, mislead us is exactly what he's trying to. If these parts really fit with the theory he wouldn't have to edit them to make them fit

You also have to look at it as the entire 3rd game is the ending.

Agreed. It is ultimately all about the journey, not the ending.
