He will be on waivers right? So he does not get to pick unless no one claims him.
Doesn't the waiver system apply only to players with four years experience?

EDIT: Scratch my question. I reviewed the CBA for waivers. You're correct about him going through waivers first.

Just checked Cassel's career numbers certainly nothing to write home about. We're too close to the season opener to be making a change at backup outside the organization. You can't just bring a QB in this late in the summer and shove your offense down their throat because you may end up stuck with them as your QB for the rest of the season. Weeden has been here and knows the offense so we have to stay with him and hope he never has to see the field.

How can people possibly think Cassel is an upgrade over...anybody.

Over the last 4 seasons he's thrown more INTs than touchdowns.

I would think they would cut Manuel before Cassell.

Cassell would be worse than Weeden.

Weeden at least knows the offense and could do well to not screw things up too badly in a pinch, a la Washington. Cassell is just terrible. He was handed the starting job in Buffalo and ended up behind Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel on the depth chart lol

Weeden would be 3rd on that depth chart too. 7th for Cassell? Pull the trigger Jerry!

Cassell is all but done in the NFL. There isn't anyone out there not named Austin that would be worth bringing in.

Brilliant! Let's give up a draft pick for a guy who will be cut. No, we can't wait for him to get cut and negotiate a deal. We need to trade for him RIGHT this second so we will also be on the hook to pay him $4.75M for this year.

I would be surprised if that happens considering they gave up a first round pick on Manual just two years ago but can't rule it out.

By most accounts here in NY he was third in line.

We just need a game manager at worst.. Anything even close to average will be acceptable and we might get by for a few games without Romo because of the OL and receiving weapons.

Weeden just doesn't protect the football. He is a deer in the headlights out there.

Hes got a big arm and hes a big guy but he just sucks at football.

No ****, we wouldn't have any picks for the next 10 years if fans who like to trade picks got their way

I don't want Cassell, but the only way we'd get him is via trade. We're like 27th on the list to claim players off of waivers. We're not getting any player off of waivers unless most of the NFL doesn't want the guy.

Don't think he's subject to waivers

I will pass on the Pats system QB who has failed everywhere else he has gone.

Weeden man.. Weeden..

Im not passing over anything that looks average for Weeden.

He can't protect the ball. Still making throws like he is a rookie.
